Chicago is primary a swing dance ballroom offering classes, social dances and general swing dance events in the center of Stockholm.

Chicago is located at Hornsgatan 75. The nearest reserved car parks are located at Hornsgatan 92, Brännkyrkagatan 91 and 76, Krukmakargatan 40. Chicago has no sound loops or hearing aids. The business has a relatively high volume of sound as it includes both live and recorded music for dance. The business is not audio-interpreted or text-interpreted. The physical accessibility is limited as the room is located in the basement half a flight of stairs down without an elevator. The toilets are not adapted for people with reduced mobility. The establishment is free from strong scents and bright light. We have a courteous and friendly staff who are happy to help in all situations. Tonight, the floor opens for another edition of The Blue Room.

“Wrap your troubles in dreams and dream your troubles away.”

We open our doors at 20.00, starting with an all-levels blues taster class at 20.15 led by Nick and Nikoleta, exploring movements inspired by the classic Savoy Ballroom style, from fundamental connection and “the walk” to a bit of showboating.
Social dancing to our house DJ follows from 21.00 until midnight.

Admission is included with the taster class and paid at the bar downstairs upon arrival.

WORKSHOP + JAM SESSION!

Sunday, October 4, brings a special evening to Hornsgatan combining learning, live music, and community.

We begin with an open-level workshop focusing on musicality for dancers. Explore how musicians think when they play, the roles of different instruments, and the structures behind swing and blues music, and how to translate it directly into your Lindy Hop. The class includes listening and dancing exercises, all to live music led by Erik Tengholm, one of Sweden’s most active and experienced musicians in the swing and blues scene (drop-in, no registration required; some social dance experience recommended).

Immediately following the class, stay for Chicago "Swing" Jam Session with house band Johan & The Two-Timing Tones of Tempo. As always, the stage is open to guest musicians, dancers, and listeners alike.
