It's my turn to give Children's Day gifts after receiving lovely Teacher's Day gifts from my students. I gave out these cute, swimmer-themed keychains to my swim kids because they resonate so much with their swim lessons

I am pleased to share that I am now certified as an SCTA Foundation Coach (formerly known as the Swim Australia Teacher of Competitive Swimming). This builds upon my existing credentials as a Swim Australia Teacher ("Learn to Swim" coach), which I achieved two years ago. Currently, my primary focus is coaching children in the Learn to Swim (LTS) program, guiding them from non-swimmers to competent swimmers. I welcome opportunities to train LTS graduates and unlock their potential as future competitive swimmers.

💦 Why Floating is Your Ultimate Swim Superpower! 💦

Ever wonder why floating is the absolute first step to becoming a great swimmer? It’s not just a drill—it’s the foundation of everything!

Check out our 6 Key Steps to Learn Floating in the infographic below! 👇

🧠 The Secret Science of Floating:Your lungs are your body's built-in life jackets! When they are full of air, you float. When you tense up, your muscles become dense and you sink.

🚀 3 Quick Tips to Float Like a Pro Tonight:
1️⃣ Relax Your Body: Let go of tension. Loose muscles float; tight muscles sink!
2️⃣ Look Up: Keep your eyes toward the sky. Where your head goes, your hips will follow.
3️⃣ Keep Breathing: Fill your lungs completely, but keep breathing rhythmically. Don't hold your breath!

Form follows comfort. Master the float, and the stroke will follow! 🏊‍♂️✨💬

A post-birthday gift to myself:
I underwent shoulder stabilization surgery (3-keyhole arthroscopy to repair shoulder socket and re-attach worn tendon) this afternoon. This was necessary to fix numerous past shoulder dislocations (>15x) and to prevent them from happening ever again.
This surgery was an absolute MUST to permanently fix the root cause. It's an investment so I can continue being a better swim coach in the future. I strongly believe in demonstrating actions in the pool rather than just giving verbal instructions from the pool deck. Kids, especially, absorb and understand information much faster through visual demonstrations paired with bite-sized verbal cues.
Swim with Ant will be out of action for the next 6–8 weeks of post-op recovery during this New Zealand winter.
I will be back stronger, with full range of motion for my strokes—freestyle, backstroke, and flying like a butterfly! 🦋
I always believe in this: 这次的修养, 休息是为了走更长远的路.

Happy June school holidays to all my swim kiddos and parents! Cheers!
