This term, Juniors are drilling ground grappling โ specifically, what to do when someone is actively trying to hold you down. Not a passive drill. Multiple 1-v-1 rounds, full intention from both sides, from all angles.
The stress is intentional. When students are pushed, they stop copying and start thinking. Principles get tested. Gaps get discovered. And more often than not, they find their own way out.

We teach the basics โ how to move, how to escape, what to look for. Then we let them play with it. Each game quietly reinforces the same principles, but leaves room for their own problem-solving.

This term, we trained for the moments that donโt give you a heads up โ wrist grabs, wall pins, close contact holds. The kind of situations where youโre already in it before your brain catches up.
No run-up. No warning stance. Just: youโre caught, now what.
Itโs not easy to train for something that uncomfortable. But every single one of you did. ๐ค

Caught in a hold. No warning. No time to prepare.
That was the reality we trained for this term โ wrist grab releases and defending yourself against the wall. Scenarios that donโt announce themselves. Situations where by the time you realise whatโs happening, itโs already begun.
For our newcomers especially, this was a lot to sit with. Not just the techniques, but the truth behind them โ that these arenโt edge cases. They happen. They happen to people who were simply too kind to cause a scene.
What we hope youโre leaving with isnโt just the drills. Itโs a shift in how you see a situation that starts small. A grabbed wrist. A pinned shoulder. The wall behind you.
None of these are small.
You trusted the reps. You trusted the process. You stayed through the discomfort of not getting it right on the first, second, or fifth try. That says more about you than any technique we could teach.
This was only the tip of the iceberg โ and you showed up for it.

One swing. One punch. Thatโs all it takes.
Street fights are messy, fast, and unpredictable โ and thatโs exactly what our Teens trained for this term. ๐ฅ
From understanding striking behaviour to building footwork, evasive movement, and intercepting attacks, the focus was simple: ๐ถ๐ณ ๐๐ผ๐ ๐ด๐ฒ๐ ๐ต๐ถ๐ ๐ผ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ, ๐ฑ๐ผ๐ปโ๐ ๐ด๐ฒ๐ ๐ต๐ถ๐ ๐๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ.
Thereโs no perfect solution. But mindset, awareness, and decision-making make the difference.
Through progressive stress drills and high-pressure scenarios, our teens learned to stay composed, react with intent, and keep moving forward.
Calm under chaos. Thatโs the goal.

Our focus on ๐จ๐ฉ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐ช๐ฅ ๐๐ง๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ก๐๐ฃ๐ helped them understand how to avoid getting caught, stay on their feet, and if needed, control the situation from a dominant position. Takedowns? Optional. Awareness and control? Essential.
And of courseโฆ the most anticipated moment โ parents (and older siblings) stepping in for the final round ๐ A little chaos, a lot of laughter, and a great reminder that learning can be both practical and fun.
