The Flamboyant Cuttlefish is a true underwater spectacle—small but full of personality! Unlike other cuttlefish that prefer to blend in, this one flashes bright colors of yellow, purple, red, and white as a warning signal to predators. But don’t be fooled by its beauty—it’s actually toxic!
Unlike its relatives that swim gracefully, the Flamboyant Cuttlefish “walks” along the seafloor, making it one of the most unique cephalopods to encounter. Spotting one is always a highlight for macro lovers!
Come dive with us, and our expert guides will do their best to help you find one!

"I did my open water diver certification with Livingseas and I have to say it was nothing less than absolutely incredible!
My instructor Dylan was simply the experience in person and a great teacher! I learned a lot from him and feel well prepared to start into this hobby now :) And I'm so happy I managed to capture a lot of great photos and videos underwater!
Here they use high-quality equipment and I felt really well mentored the whole time.
Thank you so much to all of the guys at Livingseas! I hope to come back and meet you again!"
We love reading your reviews! 💙 So happy you had an amazing time diving with us, Ben! 🤿✨
We run SSI Open Water Courses 7/7, so if you're ready to take the plunge, just contact us, and we’ll organize it for you!
For the second year in a row, 35 students from Christian Alliance International School (Hong Kong) spent the day planting corals with us!
These students didn’t just learn about coral reefs—they actively contributed to rebuilding them. Over the course of the day, they:
✅ Discovered the importance of coral ecosystems and why they are vital for marine life
✅ Assembled 38 reef stars, carefully attaching 684 coral fragments that are now on their way to becoming part of the reef
✅ Snorkeled over the restoration site to witness firsthand the impact of conservation efforts
By the end of the day, new corals were planted, marine habitats were strengthened, and a new group of young ocean advocates left with a deeper connection to conservation.
This is probably one of the most meaningful activities a school can organize—a hands-on experience that teaches responsibility, conservation, and the importance of ocean health. 💙
Huge thanks to Christian Alliance International School, the teachers, and especially the students for their dedication. The reefs are a little stronger because of you! Who’s joining next? 🪸✨

One of our favorite underwater photographers, .art, captured some absolutely stunning close-ups of corals.
What we love most about our work is how it reshapes the way people see coral reefs. Too often, divers and snorkelers are mesmerized by turtles and tropical fish, forgetting to take a closer look at the incredible complexity and beauty of the corals themselves.
By planting corals, we’re not just restoring reefs—we’re also reminding everyone just how insanely beautiful, essential, and fragile they are. 💙
📸 Swipe and let us know which one is your favorite! (We love number 1 and 5!)
Do you know what this is? 👇
We call this a table—a temporary storage space for corals after we harvest them and before they get planted. 🪸✨ This step is crucial to keep the corals safe and healthy while we prepare their new home on the reef!

Candidasa Coral Rescue: 200m² of Reef Saved & More Work Ahead! 🪸
In just four trips between January 31 and February 8, we successfully relocated over 200m² of coral from Candidasa to our restoration site in Padangbai! That means over 120 crates of coral and 20,000 fragments have been given a second chance in our new nurseries.
On top of that, in the past two weeks, we installed 15 additional coral nurseries, expanding our restoration efforts even further. Now, we are fully focused on relocating every single coral fragment we can save, carefully replanting them in our nurseries to ensure their survival.
😶🌫️ The Challenge? Bad weather has temporarily put a halt to our trips, but the silver lining? Construction has also paused, giving us time to prepare more nurseries and get ready for the next coral rescue.
💙 The Work Continues! Our goal is to save as much coral as possible before construction reaches Zone 4, but we need your help. Resources are running low, and every nursery we install requires funding, equipment, and manpower.
📢 Help us keep this mission going! Your support means more corals saved, more reef rebuilt, and more marine life thriving. 🌊

The Harlequin Shrimp may be one of the most beautiful critters in the ocean, but don’t let its appearance fool you—it’s a fierce hunter that feeds exclusively on starfish, even ones much larger than itself! 😲
What makes them even more special? They are almost always found in pairs! 💙🩵 These bonded shrimp stick together for life, making them one of the most fascinating duos to spot underwater.
Come dive with us, and our expert guides will do their best to help you find one of these rare beauties!

Last week, our founder, Leon, had the incredible opportunity to speak at a summit bringing together climate leaders from fashion, food, transportation, and travel—because sustainability isn’t just one track, it’s a shared effort across industries!
👉🏼 Key Takeaways:
🪸 Regenerative Tourism & Coral Restoration – Sharing how tourism can go beyond sustainability and actively restore marine ecosystems
🚮 The Plastic Waste Crisis – Highlighting the challenges Bali faces and why Singapore isn’t as clean as it seems when it comes to plastic waste
🤝 Cross-Industry Connections – Learning from experts in circularity, responsible manufacturing, and EV adoption
This event was a reminder that real solutions happen when industries work together. Huge thanks to NSEW2050 for the platform and to everyone who engaged in these important conversations!
Looking forward to the next one! 💙

Can you spot the black frogfish hiding under our new coral nurseries? 👀🪸
It’s incredible to see how many diverse species are now thriving at our coral restoration site! Frogfish are one of the most sought-after species for avid divers, thanks to their incredible camouflage skills and unique way of hunting—they walk on the ocean floor and use a lure to attract prey!
This rare sighting is just one example of how restored reefs create new habitats for marine life. Come see it for yourself and be part of the restoration journey!

The Big 4 of Bali’s underwater world!
Bali is home to some of the most iconic marine creatures, making it a dream diving destination. Here are the Big 4 you don’t want to miss!
🐟 Manta Rays (Spotted All Year Round)
You can see reef and oceanic mantas all year in Bali, but the best diving conditions are from April to November. These gentle giants grow up to 7 meters wide and often gather around cleaning stations, where small fish remove parasites from their bodies—a true win-win for the ocean!
🐡 Mola Mola (July - October)
The Mola Mola (Sunfish) is a bucket-list sighting for many divers! They come up from the deep during cooler waters (20-23°C) between July and October, mainly around Candidasa and Nusa Penida. Did you know they can jump out of the water to shake off parasites? Fun fact—they’re related to pufferfish!
🦈 Thresher Sharks (Rare Encounter, But Blacktip & Whitetip Reef Sharks Year-Round!)
Bali’s waters host Blacktip and Whitetip Reef Sharks all year, but if you’re lucky, you might spot a Thresher Shark with its long whip-like tail used to stun prey! These sharks, along with Bamboo, Wobbegong, and Sand Tiger Sharks, are rare but add to the incredible biodiversity here. And if luck is really on your side—Whale Sharks occasionally pass by during migration!
🐠 Napoleon Wrasse (Best on Wrecks & Drop-offs)
This massive, colorful fish can reach up to 200 kg! Often found on Bali’s east coast, they love wrecks and reef drop-offs, especially around Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, and Tulamben’s USAT Liberty Wreck. If you’re lucky, you might see one getting cleaned by small fish at a cleaning station!
Have you seen them all? If not, which of these Big 4 would you love to see on your next dive? 👇🏾🤿💙
