❎Pain doesn’t always mean something is “broken” or structurally damaged.
When the issue is neurological - brain control of muscles (not a tear or major injury), we often have a very good chance of fixing it quickly.
👉Case from this week: One client woke up with a random, brutal strain. He couldn’t even roll over or get out of bed without serious pain.
After one session focused on neurological activation and reset — he was completely pain-free and back training just 2 days later. 💪
(Important note: If you suspect a tear or serious injury, head straight to A&E and get imaging done!)

⚠️But one thing you’ll almost never see? People jumping onto a box while tucking their legs way up to hit the highest possible height.
In this video, Genesis Founder Jonathan Wong (46 years young 💪) demonstrates our preferred box jump variation:
Explode up as high as possible and land on the box with legs totally straight — like a helicopter gently touching down.🚁
The coaching cue: "Land like a helicopter."
Why we do it this way:
👉The true goal of box jumps is to train explosive power and maximum jump height. Tucking the knees super high on landing doesn't accurately measure that — it mostly tests your "tuck skill" instead.
🚑🩸Plus, there are too many horror stories of people missing the box, falling backward, or scraping/cutting shins and knees on rough edges. The risk-to-benefit ratio just isn't worth it.
Landing with straight legs (helicopter style) is the safe, effective, and smart way to build real power for almost every athlete and client at Genesis.

At Genesis Gym, we live by the "2 Bad Reps" rule:
Do one bad rep? Our coaches will cue you to fix it.
Hit two bad reps in a row? Set stops immediately. Rest, reset, then you can try again.
Why? Because grinding through more than that usually means you're compensating with the wrong muscles… or building bad habits that lead to injuries and setbacks.

In this module, our students had the opportunity to learn directly from Genesis Gym founder Jonathan Wong. The focus was on assessing the body for optimal left-right brain balance, ensuring proper muscle function, and analyzing dysfunctional joint movements to identify the likely underlying muscles which were not working properly.
This hands-on session equipped participants with practical skills to evaluate and address imbalances and movement issues effectively. Great work, everyone! 💪
