Aiah Joseph Ansumana, popularly known as “Fair Play,” is an educator, football referee, sports advocate, and community-minded professional from Bumpeh, Nimikor Chiefdom, Kono District.

His passion for football began at an early age, participating in local football activities before developing a strong interest in officiating. In 2017, he joined the Kono District Football Referees' Association, beginning a journey that would see him progress from local competitions to officiating matches in the Sierra Leone Premier League.

Through professional training and refereeing courses organized by football authorities, including the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) and FIFA-related programmes, Ansumana has continued to strengthen his knowledge and professionalism as a match official. His commitment to fairness, integrity, discipline, and sound decision-making has contributed to his growing reputation within football.

Beyond officiating, he supports the development of aspiring referees through mentorship, workshops, and training activities while promoting professionalism and sportsmanship among young people.

Academically, Ansumana holds a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree with First Class honours, obtained in 2021 from the Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology. He currently serves as District Literacy Officer (DLO) with the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education in Kono District, combining his commitment to education with his passion for sports development.

His ambition is to continue progressing in football officiating and ultimately represent Sierra Leone at major international competitions.

His recognition in the Sports Category of the Kono District Top 40 Most Prestigious Male Awards reflects his contribution to football officiating, education, youth mentorship, and community development.

MR. SHEKU TURAY

Mr. Sheku Turay is an experienced sports journalist, broadcaster, commentator, presenter and producer from Kono District, Sierra Leone, with eight years of service at J&J Voice of Kono Radio 98.1 FM.

He currently serves as Head of Sports and Team Lead/Senior Journalist at J&J Voice of Kono Radio, where he has developed extensive experience in sports commentary, programme production, news presentation, interviewing and community-focused broadcasting.

His contribution to sports journalism has earned him several recognitions, including Best Sports Presenter (2018–2019), Best Sports Journalist and Best Commentator in 2018, Best Commentator – KDFA (2021), Best Journalist & Commentator – KDSP/KOFA Inter-Area (2022), and Best Sports Journalist & Commentator at the Pa Cole Football Tournament (2024).

Beyond broadcasting, Sheku is a senior member of the Kono District Sports Commentary Association and has contributed to the promotion and coverage of grassroots and district-level sporting activities.

Academically, he is currently pursuing a BSc in Development Studies at UNIMTECH, Kono Campus, and holds certificates in Project Management and Business Administration & Management.

Mr. Komba Kelvin Kembay is a versatile administrator, sports leader, educator, strategic communicator, and community development professional with extensive experience in football administration and organizational management.

He currently serves as an Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Officer at Koidu New Sembehun City Council. His previous professional experience includes serving as a Commercial Officer at Kalpataru Power Transmission and General Manager of Grace Kay Group of Enterprise and Grace Kay Football Academy.

Komba has made notable contributions to football development and administration in Kono District. He has served as General Secretary of the Kono District Football Association (KDFA) and as Assistant Secretary of Diamond Stars FC from 2019 to 2023. His contribution to football management earned him recognition as Best Football Club Team Manager by KDEA in 2018.

Beyond sports, he has contributed to education and community development. During the 2008–2009 academic year, he taught Chemistry, Physics, KGSS and Agricultural Science at Gbense High School. Since 2023, he has also supported underprivileged children through donations of educational materials.

His professional strengths span leadership, strategic communication, administration, stakeholder engagement, project coordination, team management, education, and football development.

He attended Saint Francis Secondary School for his junior and senior secondary education before pursuing Electrical Engineering at the College of Human Resources Management. He later attended Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology (EBKUST), where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management.

Sullaiman began his professional career with Orange SL, serving as Head of Field Sales Agents, where he developed significant experience in sales operations, team management and leadership.

He currently serves as Head of Commercial at Elephant Bet Limited in Koidu City, overseeing the company’s commercial operations and affairs within the district.

CONTRIBUTION TO KONO DISTRICT

One of his major contributions has been helping to create employment opportunities for more than 150 young people through retail businesses, contributing to youth economic empowerment.

He has also supported the beautification of Kono, including the painting of Opera Cinema and the Koidu City Field Pavilion.

Through business leadership, employment creation and community initiatives, Sullaiman Kamara continues to demonstrate the important role entrepreneurship can play in creating opportunities and supporting local development.

SAHR RICHARD MUSA

Sahr Richard Musa is a youth philanthropist, humanitarian and youth development advocate born and raised in Kono District, with roots in the Musa ruling family of Mafindor Chiefdom.

His community service has covered public health, education, vulnerable-youth support, sports and humanitarian assistance. During the Ebola outbreak, he volunteered in support of Kono District. During the COVID-19 response, he served as a Supervisor with Partners In Health (PIH) across six chiefdoms and has also received recognition from the District Health Management Team for his work as a contact tracer.

His philanthropic activities include providing scholarship support to school-going girls, assisting university students, supporting vulnerable street-connected youths with basic needs, providing assistance to people affected by drug abuse, and supporting football clubs and other youth-development initiatives across Kono.

His service has earned him several awards and certificates, including Best Mobilizer – Restless Development, a PIH COVID-19 Certificate of Appreciation, SIKEO Youngest Philanthropist Award, recognition in the 2nd Edition of the Kono District Most Prestigious Male Awards, a Youngest Politician Award, and a Most Caring Youth Award.

He attended K.S.S., Y.S.S., C.K.C. Bo, and later UNIMTEC Kono.

He currently serves as Health Statistics Manager with Partners In Health Sierra Leone, where his work focuses on strategic information, health statistics, and data-driven decision-making.

Beyond his professional career, Tamba is the Founder of the Tamba Abdulai Foundation (TAF), a community-based organization working to advance education, public health, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives in Kono District.

During the 2025/2026 academic year, the Foundation supported 80 girls with school charges, uniforms, shoes, school bags, solar lights, notebooks, pens, and mentorship—helping to reduce barriers to education and support girls in pursuing their studies.

His community interventions also include supporting school infrastructure through the construction of a three-room toilet facility and the provision of 100 desks and benches.

Through his professional expertise and philanthropic initiatives, Tamba Abdulai continues to contribute to education, public health, community development, and sustainable development, supported by meaningful local and international partnerships.

Mr. Amadu Barrie is a public health professional, educator, philanthropist and community-oriented leader committed to supporting education and community development in Kono District.

He holds a Certificate in Environmental Health and a BSc in Public Health from Milton Margai Technical University.

His leadership journey began in senior secondary school, where he led his class from SSS1 to SSS4. At university, he became President of the Sierra Leone Association of Public Health, serving for two years. He also serves as National Chairman of the Fantacee Wiz Fanbase, a leadership position he has held for four years.

From 2017–2020, he taught Integrated Science, P.H.E. and Geography at Assemblies of God Secondary School. Mr. Joshua Sahr Pettiquoi is a seasoned journalist, broadcaster, media practitioner, and community development advocate with more than a decade of professional experience in journalism and broadcasting.

Born and educated in Kono District, Joshua began his professional journey as a teacher before developing his career in journalism. He served as a volunteer reporter with the former Sierra Leone Broadcasting Service (SLBS) and was among the foundation members of the Weekend News Update programme at Eastern Community Radio Kono.

At SLBC Kono, he has served in several capacities, including Reporter, Presenter, Producer, Senior Producer, and News Editor. In 2014, he became Head of Programmes, a position he continues to hold. He also serves as Regional Correspondent for SLBC Kono.

Throughout his career, Joshua has used journalism to highlight issues affecting communities, including education, youth development, women's empowerment, health, agriculture, environmental protection, community development, and social accountability.

His professional development includes training as a Media Trainer with BBC Media Action, strengthening his capacity to mentor and support other media practitioners.

In 2023, he received a National Award for Best Motivational Media Practitioner from the Concern for Future Generation Foundation.

Through journalism, broadcasting and mentorship, Joshua continues to use the media to inform, educate, amplify community voices and promote positive social change in Kono District and Sierra Leone.
