At the first Southeast Asian Peninsular Games in Bangkok in 1959, Thailand defeated Vietnam 77–71 in the men’s basketball final to claim gold.

There were no highlight reels. No social media. No followers. No fame. Their achievement survived through grainy photographs and a few lines of newsprint.

There were only fourteen pioneers who represented their country, built the foundation and gave every generation after them a game to believe in.
