Due to ongoing concern for this dangerous illness, we will not allow horses to travel in to or out of the facility until further notice.

Students, guests, and professionals who also frequent other facilities are asked to disinfect any clothing or equipment that also visited those facilities prior to coming to ours.

These policies are a little inconvenient, but the health of our equine partners is our greatest concern. Thank you for understanding.

Recently, three horses from Texas diagnosed with Equine Herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1) were transported to our Veterinary Teaching Hospital. With Louisiana’s only dedicated respiratory isolation unit for horses, we are providing immediate, expert care.
