FOUR SHOTS. ONE MILE. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! 🤯🎯

Imagine hitting a target barely larger than 6” × 10” from OVER 17 FOOTBALL FIELDS AWAY… after only a handful of hours shooting long range!

That’s exactly what Chris accomplished at our Intro to Long Range course!

Chris traveled from Arizona with a group of friends and colleagues organized by our good friend Wes, who brings a fantastic group to LRSU every year.

Before class, Chris had NEVER shot long range. He borrowed a r***e from Wes, showed up ready to learn, and put what we taught him into practice.

Friday was spent primarily in the classroom learning the fundamentals. Saturday was his first real day shooting at extended distances.

And after just a few hours of hands-on experience, Chris stepped up to our ONE-MILE MILK JUG CHALLENGE!

🎯 Distance: 1,760 yards (1,609 meters)
🎯 Target: Just over 6” × 10”
🎯 Attempt: His VERY FIRST
💥 IMPACT ON SHOT No. 4!!!

13 YEARS OLD. NEVER FIRED A R***E. TWO DAYS LATER… 1,000 YARDS! 🤯🎯

Think you need years of experience to learn long-range shooting? Think again!

Meet Carter Stevenson, a 13-year-old from Boerne, Texas, who had NEVER fired a r***e before attending our October 23–24 Intro to Long Range class at Long Range Shooters of Utah.

Just two days later, he connected with a 6” × 10” steel milk jug at 1,000 YARDS (914 meters)! 💥

And yes, that hilarious little prayer you hear him reciting is our very unofficial Milk Jug Challenge Prayer! 😂🙏

“Dear Lord, may this bullet find its milky mark. Amen.”

13 YEARS OLD. NEVER FIRED A R***E. 1,000-YARD MILK JUG! 🤯🎯

Sometimes all you need is a little faith… and ONE MORE SHOT! 😂🙏

Meet Carter Stevenson, a 13-year-old from Boerne, Texas, who joined us for our October 23–24 Intro to Long Range class.

Before attending, Carter had NEVER fired a r***e. Not once!

Our good friend and neighbor Jeff Bader introduced Carter’s dad, Scott, to LRSU after attending classes with his own two kids last spring. Scott joined Jeff for a class in May, and this time returned with Carter to share the experience with his son!

Carter borrowed one of Jeff’s SIG Cross r***es, chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor with a carbon fiber barrel.

Then came the 1,000-yard Milk Jug Challenge! 🎯

With just ONE shot remaining in his 10-shot attempt, I asked Carter:

“Do you know the Milk Jug Challenge Prayer?”

He didn’t. So naturally, I taught him. 😂

🙏 “Dear Lord, may this bullet find its milky mark. Amen.”

Carter recited our very unofficial prayer on camera, settled in behind the r***e, and squeezed the trigger…

SO CLOSE! But no impact!

His tenth and final shot had missed by the narrowest of margins.

Normally, that’s where the attempt ends. Ten shots, then you take a break and try again.

But he’d come SO close that I figured we’d make a rare exception and give him ONE SINGLE BONUS SHOT!

Carter happily accepted, settled back behind the r***e, made his correction, and…

💥 IMPACT!!! 1,000 YARDS!

SHOT No. 11! THE BONUS SHOT!

A 13-year-old who had never fired a r***e before class just connected with a 6” × 10” milk jug at 1,000 yards (914 meters)!

The prayer might have been a joke, but Carter’s accomplishment was the real deal! 😂🎯

What an incredible experience for Carter and his dad, Scott, to share. Congratulations, young man! You should be VERY proud of yourself!

And thanks to Jeff for continuing to introduce friends and family to this incredible sport!

So… should the Milk Jug Challenge Prayer become an official part of our curriculum? 😂👇

🔥 17 STUDENTS. 5 STATES. 100% SUCCESS AT 1,000 YARDS! 🎯

Our October 23–24 Intro to Long Range class was one for the books!

Students traveled from AZ, UT, TX, CA and MT. Despite a wild forecast, the winds settled down and our students crushed it!

🏆 1,000 YARDS: 17 for 17! 💯
15 completed the challenge in their FIRST 10 shots, including one cold-bore hit!

🎯 1,200 YARDS: 5 hits!
Scott Stevenson (shot 2), John Meile (shot 4), Robert H. (shot 7), Ben Johnson (shot 10), Stephen Pena (shot 5, second attempt).

🎯 1,500 YARDS: 4 hits!
Wick Baker (shot 3), Scott Stevenson (shot 6), Matt and John Meile!

🎯 1 MILE: 2 hits!

Scott Stevenson — shot 1, second attempt!

🥇 MILK JUG CHALLENGE SLAM!
Returning student Scott completed the 1,000, 1,200, 1,500 and 1-mile challenges! He even tried the 2,000-yard jug for the GRAND SLAM. Several near misses triggered the hit indicator, but inspection confirmed no jug impacts. He’s happy to return and try again! 😎

We saw outstanding 100-yard groups, including some beautiful cloverleafs!

Special thanks to “Machine Gun Wes” for bringing another fantastic group, many connected through Core & Main in Arizona. Your generosity, friendship and MP5s made it a memorable weekend!

Huge thanks to Nick Peterson and Drew Merrill, who filled in while Stu met his first grandchild. Congrats, Grandpa! 👶 And thanks to Scott and the North Springs crew for always being amazing hosts!

FROM ZERO EXPERIENCE TO 1,000 YARDS AND BEYOND! 🤯🎯

Meet CJ and Tyrone, two friends from Maryland who saw one of our videos on Facebook and decided they HAD to come experience Long Range Shooters of Utah for themselves!

They joined us for our October 9–10 Intro to Long Range class, and despite having ZERO previous long-range shooting experience, these guys absolutely crushed it!

Watch as they work their way through our steel targets:

🟠 1,000 yards

And finish with a perfectly placed shot right on the crown of our 1,000-yard silhouette! 💥
