🖤💙 Elukami on Juneteenth was pure magic. More than body art, Elukami (sometimes called Indigo Finger) is a living remembrance.

Inspired by the deep blue stains left on the hands and fingers of our enslaved ancestors who cultivated and processed indigo, these markings honor the labor, resilience, spirituality, and survival of our people.

What was once a symbol of forced labor has been reclaimed as a symbol of pride, remembrance, beauty, and resistance.

Yesterday, we gathered not just to adorn our bodies, but to connect with history, culture, and the stories carried within our bloodlines.

Thank you to everyone who participated, learned, shared, and helped us honor Juneteenth in such a meaningful way.

May we continue to remember.
May we continue to reclaim.
May we continue to celebrate the resilience of our people.
