Thank you to everyone who came out this weekend to make this year's Fix It Fair our baddest and busiest ever!

We fixed **850 lbs** of items (that's like 4 baby elephants) that might have otherwise gone to the dump! And you brought in all kinds of cool stuff: tiaras, turntables, artwork, gowns, even old video game consoles.

Huge thanks to Velocipede Bike Project, Baltimore Jewelry Center, SCRAP B-More, Enoch Pratt Free Library Waverly Branch and our volunteers and fixers for making it possible!

Attention Makers and Doers and Fixers!! Our friends at Velocipede Bike Project are teaching awesome bike mechanics classes in the coming weeks! Check it out!
This place is great. I went to get my bike looked at and they actually worked with me stop by step to not only figure out what was wrong, but showed me how to fix it.
You Can Fix Your Life at Station North Tool Library! (Starting with their bike repair station outside). That's nothing new. But this Saturday, it's even better than that, because you can get somebody else to FIX YOUR LIFE FOR FREE at the Fix It Fair: Don't Trash It, Fix It! event on April 6!

At the annual event "anyone can get help fixing just about anything—for free!" Examples "of items that can be brought in include bikes, small appliances, electronics, computers, small furniture, clothes, jewelry, and knives/scissors for sharpening."

But wait there's more! There are all kinds of extra fixers and giveaways this year, due to partners from TreeBaltimore, Blue Water Baltimore, Velocipede Bike Project, Baltimore Jewelry Center, and the The Loading Dock, Inc.

THIS INCLUDES FREE TREES FOR CITY AND COUNTY RESIDENTS.

If you are having an emotional crisis and having difficulty making decisions now, so you would rather get more info, instead of heading to your closet, basement, or garage to gather your broken stuff and prepare for the event, you can read more at: www.stationnorthtoollibrary.org/fixitfair
& (for trees) Blue Water Baltimore/Tree Baltimore tree giveway at: https://bit.ly/2Vbpk7w
Only in The Core, start exploring!
🚴‍♀️☀️🚴‍♂️

The weather is warming up and biking season is right around the corner... So get your rusty, squeaky bike out of the basement and over to Fix It Fair: Don't Trash It, Fix It!

We'll have amazing friends from Velocipede Bike Project helping with repairs! Also, check out their bike maintenance classes and workspace to keep your ride fresh all year round.

Please check our website for bikes for sale, appointment, and donation information.

Did you know Velocipede's workshop is open for the public to use 16 hours each week? You can bring your bike and bike-related puns to the shop Tuesday-Thursday 5pm-9pm and Sunday 1pm-5pm-- BUT NOT TONIGHT, because it's the 4th of July. See you tomorrow night!

07/24/2022

Due to a key staff member being exposed to COVID, Velocipede won't host Open Shop on Sunday the 24th.

Unless we all melt tomorrow, the next walk-in Open Shop will be Wednesday the 27th.

06/07/2022

We are temporarily pausing accepting donations of bicycles, frames, or car bike racks while we change storage locations.

The shop location is unchanged (100 W 22nd St. 21218).

Thanks for your understanding.

Bikemore is kicking off a series of informational meetings with bike shops in Baltimore to see what's up during Covid.

On Tuesday (8/25) they'll be at our shop for a Q&A about how we can all purchase and repair bikes.

So if you have questions yourself, come over from 5-6pm.

The meeting is free, but register now on our Events tab cause spots are limited!

06/21/2020

Hey riders! Hope everyone is safe and well right now as we all get acclimated to a new lifestyle.

Bikes For Sale — Velocipede Bike Project

Dear friends,

We have made the considered and difficult decision to suspend our programming due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We will not be hosting walk-in bike sales or open shop until it is safe to do so.

This isn't an easy choice but we believe it is the right choice for everyone's health.

If you rely on your bicycle for transportation and need to perform minor repairs or service, we will be offering a limited number of appointment slots on a trial basis. If you need a bike, please check the Bikes For Sale (http://www.velocipedebikeproject.org/bikes-for-sale) on the website and make an appointment to test ride. These appointments will be completely hands-off and do-it-yourself, to limit contact as much as possible.

These appointments will be during times when we are not usually open, on Mondays, Thursdays, or Fridays.

To make an appointment you can:

> Email us: [email protected]
> Message us on Facebook
> Calling (410) 343-9181 (1 day in advance)

We love the spring weather and hope you have the chance to spend time outside, on a bike or otherwise. We will miss you while we're gone.

Bikes For Sale — Velocipede Bike Project Velocipede selects donated bicycles to be repaired and sold in our shop. Most of the bikes that we sell have been completely overhauled: bearings cleaned, regreased, adjusted; new brake cables; new cable housing, shift cables and pads when needed; worn parts replaced; shifting and braking adjusted a...

We got to know each other better, tell our stories, and have some laughs. We love our hardworking team and can't wait to share the love with you and your bikes! These are the faces you'll see in the shop and riding on the road.

We are still currently looking for more volunteers to join the team this season. Contact [email protected] for info if you're interested.
