Alison Laundrie recently led the first Beacon Pilates Teacher Training Comprehensive Mat course at BODYBAR East Wichita. Here’s a little peek into how it went! Most of her students were coming to classical Pilates teacher training from a reformer pilates background. Alison has already gotten feedback from many of them about how her training has improved their instruction. We’re thrilled to hear that!

Please help us welcome owner, Kate Fleck, and teacher-trainer, Beth Graziano, of Pilates Center Rhinebeck in Rhinebeck, NY—our newest Beacon Pilates Teacher Training affiliate!

Kate Fleck originally trained with Juliet and is excited to bring her classical Pilates teacher training program to the Rhinebeck area. Beth Graziano is a longtime colleague of Juliet’s and studied Pilates with both Romana Kryzanowska and Juliet’s mentor, Bob Liekens. She has trained numerous Pilates instructors over the years and we’re beyond thrilled to have her share her knowledge and expertise with our program.

Teaching Beginner System Circles and Frogs
This past weekend my current Level 1 Apparatus group learned how to safely guide a first-timer through the classical beginner system. Here we go through how to spot the black straps to get a new client onto circles & frogs. Do you remember learning this spot? It can be so intimidating at first but with practice it becomes easy, seamless, and, most importantly, safe for your first-time clients that may not quite understand all the movement physics of the reformer.

Teaching Swan On Ladder Barrel
This is a great exercise for learning extension with engagement of the legs for support.

Here Juliet teaches three progressions from most supportive to most challenging. (Important! Never let clients hang over the barrel. It can be very dangerous for the lower back.)

Angela and I had a great time yesterday working out with Phoebe Higgins at Grasshopper Pilates in NYC. Phoebe led us through some of the guillotine apparatus exercises—a real treat since I don’t have one of my own!
