Curious about becoming a classical Pilates teacher? This recent clip of my Level II Apparatus class learning how to teach Short Spine actually illustrates a lot of what it takes.
1. Effective Pilates teachers put the person before the technique. Learning how to listen, see, and intuit is essential to understanding your client’s needs. Here, while we’re setting up to do Short Spine, I point out how to know if a client is ready to do this exercise.
2. Pilates teachers also need to communicate in many different ways to teach the method correctly and safely. In this clip I use verbal cues, spotting, and touch cues to show how to move a client safely through the complicated steps of this exercise for the first time.
3. And finally, showing the detailed breakdown in this clip of just one half of one sequence on one apparatus should give you the idea of the time, effort, and dedication it takes to become a certified classical Pilates teacher. But the end result is more than worth it. Whether you’re an established fitness professional, a contemporary instructor looking to bridge your skills, or a complete beginner, our teacher training program will give you the skills, confidence, and support for all your future goals.
