We closed out summer the WBFC way: sharing food, welcoming new members, sending off our departing seniors, and adding plenty of color to the season ahead.

Competition is part of learning how to fence. Learning how to compete well is just as important.

We recently welcomed youth fencers from Halberstadt for a friendly in-house competition, giving athletes from both clubs a chance to test their skills, fence new opponents, and prepare for competition in a supportive environment.

Learning to manage nerves, adapt, win with humility, lose with perspective, and respect the person across the strip are all part of becoming a better fencer.

We compete for the touch, but we help each other get better.

August gives us a little room to reset, recharge, and get ready for the season ahead. The strips won’t stay empty for long. 🤺🤺

Summer Nationals reminded us that progress isn’t measured by a single tournament.

It’s found in the courage to compete, the lessons from every bout, the teammates cheering from the sidelines, and the decision to keep coming back.
