Introducing the 2027 Alabama Tennis Foundation Hall Of Fame Inductees!
Jay Weinacker:
Born in Mobile and raised in Birmingham, Jay Weinacker was a standout junior player before continuing his career at North Carolina State University. During his time with the Wolfpack, Jay became an NCAA All-American, a two-time All-ACC selection, and finished his career as NC State’s record holder with 106 singles victories while tying the school record with 87 doubles wins. He helped lead NC State to its first NCAA Elite Eight appearance in 2007 and reached the Round of 16 of the NCAA Singles Championship in 2009, finishing the season ranked No. 33 nationally. Jay was also a two-time recipient of the ITA/Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship for the Mideast Region. He currently serves as the Director of Tennis at Birmingham Country Club and continues to give back to Alabama tennis through his involvement with USTA Alabama, including service on the Junior Competition Committee and as a coach for Alabama juniors competing in the Ozaki Cup.
Brice Bishop:
A native of Sheffield, Alabama, Brice Bishop has enjoyed a distinguished career in tennis as both a player and coach. A four-year standout at the University of North Alabama from 1982–85, Brice played No. 1 singles throughout his collegiate career, won back-to-back Gulf South Conference singles championships in 1984 and 1985, and became the first tennis player in UNA history to earn NCAA Division II All-American honors. He later returned to UNA as a coach, leading the Lions’ men’s and women’s programs for more than 20 seasons. During his tenure, the men made 13 NCAA Tournament appearances and the women reached 11 NCAA Division II regional tournaments. Brice also helped guide UNA through its transition to NCAA Division I competition. His career has been recognized through induction into both the University of North Alabama Athletic Hall of Fame and the Colbert County Sports Hall of Fame.
