Two girls on the mat, training hard and cheering each other on. 🤍 What they're building here goes way past American Jiu-Jitsu — friendship, patience, and the kind of communication that shows up long after class ends.
- Coach Emily
You can see the moment it clicks — the outside noise drops away and it's just the student, the mat, and the next rep. That focus isn't something we hand out on day one. It's built, round by round, until showing up dialed in becomes who you are. This is what the work does to you. 🔥
Nobody gets good here alone. 🥋
Every round you gave someone this week made them better — and they did the same for you. That's the whole thing.

There's an old idea in training: sometimes you're the hammer, sometimes you're the nail. 🥋 Most students only want to be the hammer. But the fastest growth in Shane's game is happening in the rounds where he's the nail — training in the gi with Coach Peyton, a partner sharp enough to expose exactly where his structure breaks. Being the nail isn't losing. It's getting information you can't get any other way. The student who clamps down to protect himself learns nothing; the one who lets himself be tested — and stays curious instead of defensive — comes back sharper every time. That takes trust: in your partner, and in the process. Where in your training are you avoiding being the nail — and what might it teach you if you didn't?
The low kick sets the trap. The mid kick springs it. Drilling the low-to-mid switch until it's automatic is how you turn two decent kicks into one problem your opponent can't solve. Reps like these are where Muay Thai stops being a collection of techniques and starts becoming yours. 🥊
POV: he thinks he's staying on top. 😅
Tag the training partner who is absolutely not staying up.
There's a rhythm that shows up once the nerves quiet down — when sparring stops feeling like a test and starts feeling like a conversation. This is Muay Thai flow at the Academy: sharp, controlled, built on trust between partners who push each other and protect each other in the same round. 🥊

Serg just earned his fourth stripe on his white belt — one step from the next threshold. 🥋 Four stripes isn't about collecting tape. It's the quiet confidence that shows up when you know you can escape a bad spot, find control, and solve whatever the mat hands you. That foundation doesn't come fast or easy. Sergei built his the only way it's built — showing up, getting uncomfortable, and trusting the process to hold. Congrats, Serg. We're proud of the student you're becoming.
Everybody works. 🤍
Doesn't matter what belt, what week, or what mood you walked in with. You showed up — so you're one of us.
