Stories from the Amazon: Artisans, Conservation & Fair Trade Crafts
What happens when traditional artistry, community partnership, and forest conservation come together?
Join us at Just Plain Yoga for a special presentation with Dr. Campbell Plowden, Executive Director and founder of the Center for Amazon Community Ecology (Amazon Ecology).
Sunday, October 18 | 11 AM–1 PM
📍 Just Plain Yoga
300 Corporate Center Dr., Suite 102, Camp Hill
Campbell will share stories from his work with artisan partners in the Peruvian Amazon and the progress—and challenges—of creating sustainable livelihoods while supporting traditional communities and protecting the forest.
You’ll learn about:
*️⃣ Fair-trade crafts and sustainable livelihoods
*️⃣ Strengthening local artisan organizations
*️⃣ Sustainable harvesting and reforestation
*️⃣ Community health, education, and conservation
*️⃣ Opportunities to get involved and volunteer
And after the presentation, stay for a special Fair Trade Craft Sale featuring beautiful handmade crafts created by Amazon Ecology’s artisan partners in Peru. Your purchases help support artisan training and community programs.
This event has a special connection to our JPY community. Campbell is part of our yoga community, and JPY founder Tina Stroh recently joined Amazon Ecology’s Board of Directors.
Come learn, ask questions, meet Campbell, and discover the stories behind the crafts.
Everyone is welcome—you don't need to be a JPY member to attend.
Come curious. Leave connected.
