Prairielands Curling

Prairielands Curling is not currently active. If you would like to try curling, we suggest reaching out to the Waltham Curling Club, which is the closest curling club.

The primary organizers of curling in Champaign/Urbana have left the area. There are currently no plans to restart the group. However, if you are someone who has the time and expertise to bring curling to the region, reach out to us, and we will share information that may be helpful.

Curling could be very viable (even profitable) with a dedicated facility and bar. We even have people in C-U who could run such a club on a day-to-day basis. Unfortunately, it would require a very large upfront investment to make it a reality. Any wealthy benefactors out there who get the stones sliding?

Dear Curlers,

My name is Scott Piroth, and I have taken over the Prarielands Curling email and page from Kate and Jesus. I want to try to revive the group and see where things lead. Actual curling in the region might be a long-term goal, but I am going to start small. With the Olympics coming, I have been planning an Olympic Curling Watch party at Collective Pour in Champaign on Tuesday, Feb. 15 beginning at 7pm. The U.S. women will be playing Canada - so it should be an entertaining game. Spread the word to anyone you know who would be interested.

Whether or not you can attend the watch party, I hope to meet everyone who wants to be involved with curling in the area. Please feel free to reach out to me if you would like to get together and discuss things - preferably over beers (after all, this is curling).
