The St. Louis Chapter of the Club Management Association of America enjoys having a great relationship with the Hospitality Divisions of all the Universities in Missouri. Recently, a group of Hospitality Students from Missouri State University had the opportunity to tour and visit some of the best Clubs in the state of Missouri that included Forest Hills Country Club, Old Warson Country Club, St. Louis Country Club, the Missouri Athletic Club Downtown, Norwood Hills Country Club and Westwood Country Club!
We are always excited to be part of these trips and experiences and we enjoyed providing these students with a tour, dinner and a fun evening of Bocce instruction and play.

Our 13U PGA Junior League Team, led by Coach Matt Swanson, played in the Gateway Section qualifier this week and ended with a 3rd place finish (-9 par). Congratulations on a great season!

1 round is in the books at the National Car Rental Gateway PGA Assistant's Championship! Matt Swanson (Forest Hills Country Club) is in the lead with a 70 (-2). Right behind him is Jon Roberson (Quincy Country Club) at 71 (-1).

Gone fishing! 🎣🐟 We had so much fun at the Parent-Child Fishing Rodeo today!

The work on our driving range has started!

Contractors have begun stripping off the current Zoysia grass surface and will begin fine grading and laying down a new variety of Bermuda grass on the Driving Range. We except the process to take 2-3 days and then 2-3 weeks for the grass to grow in. The driving range mats will be open during the growing process.

The new variety was developed out of Oklahoma State University for the sole purpose of tolerating colder temperatures during the winter and rapid recovery from divot disturbances. This grass has a tight leaf blade, stands up right and the hitting surface is very similar to Zoyzia. It has been installed at other local county clubs driving range tees and the results have been exceptional.

The problem with the existing Zoysia grass on the tee box is that it can be temperamental to greening up in the spring. It will not wake up until conditions are specifically what it desires. The other issue is that it doesn’t recover quick enough for divots to fill in. With the current membership usage on the tee top like we have seen in the past three years, the tee has not been recovering fast enough to match the demand put on it from our golfers. Also, it takes a long time to open it in the spring.

Over the past 20 years a lot of research and development has gone into developing better playing surfaces for driving range tees. It is time for us to make this switch so you may have a better experience using the range tee. We are excited about this opportunity!

For the first time since 2018, our Swim and Dive Team placed 1st place in the Country Club Swim League, 1st place in the West County Swim League and 1st place in Country Club Diving!

This wouldn’t be possible without all of the amazing kiddos and the fierce leadership of our coach, Kevin Brennan, who is celebrating his 45th and final season with us.
