WHERE ARE THEY NOW WEDNESDAY: Meet Abby Szlosek!

Abby graduated from Clemson in 2025, and spent her time on campus diving into athletics and the behind-the-scenes of the professional sports world.

Since graduating, Abby has begun working as an Associate Creative Video Producer for the Los Angeles Chargers. Her experiences with Clemson Athletics contributed greatly toward transitioning into her career. Swipe to learn about her journey!

Last Friday, we had the pleasure of joining some of Clemson's amazing donors and alumni at the Nieri Alumni Center for an afternoon of great conversations and connections.

We joined several of our campus partners, including faculty and students, to share a little about the work being done at the Institute. It was incredibly rewarding to get to speak with and hear from those who provide such an impact at Clemson.

This year, Clemson Baja SAE teamed up with Clemson’s Department of Construction Science and Management to collaborate on the development of a brand-new test track to test their vehicle before competition.

The construction of this track opens the door for improved practice and competition performance, with Baja no longer having to simulate situations the car might encounter.

As our third-annual RECESS Symposium approaches, get to know our keynote speaker for Day 3, Richie Parker!

Richie is a Clemson Alum who has had an illustrious professional career in the fields of motorsports and athlete performance, and has brought his insight to organizations such as NASA and professional sports teams during his time as a motivational speaker.

For this week's Motorsport Monday, we highlight Landon Walker and Jonathan "Tig" Willard, two former Tigers who played football together over their four seasons as Tigers. Their professional careers took them both down a different yet unique path, with both of the former players joining NASCAR as members of competing drivers' teams.

Recently, the Robert H. Brooks Sports Science Institute's Dan Duncan Professor of Sports Marketing, Angeline Scheinbaum, Ph.D., was featured in an article discussing the impact of influencers on sports marketing.

Scheinbaum provided insight on the ever-evolving landscape of social media, and the implications of involving popular Internet personalities in the marketing of major sporting events - most recently, the U.S Open.

Congratulations to RHBSSI Faculty Fellow Christopher Chouinard on earning an National Science Foundation CAREER grant for his five-year project researching identifying illicit drugs.

Happy Motorsports Monday!

Clemson alum from Clemson Automotive Engineering, Jack Hobbs, ‘25, is making his mark on the world of motorsports.

Co-founder of Clemson Tiger Racing, Hobbs went on to found the Collegiate Racing Series (CRS) which just announced a strategic partnership with the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA).

You're Invited to RECESS!

The Robert H. Brooks Sports Science Institute is pleased to host its third annual RECESS Symposium—Research and Creative Endeavors in the Sports Sciences—a showcase of innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration within the sport science community. Held over three days, RECESS brings together students, faculty, industry professionals, and community partners to highlight emerging research and advances in the fields of motorsports, human performance, and the broader sport science industry.

The symposium will feature student and faculty presentations, opportunities for meaningful dialogue and networking, and a celebration of the work being conducted across these disciplines. The event will conclude with a keynote address from a distinguished speaker, followed by awards and recognitions honoring excellence in research and engagement.
