Hello All,

We will be changing up the route a bit this week to allow an 8am start and 10am return. We'll head out Stringtown to Clarksburg to White Ground, Old Bucklodge, Bucklodge, Moore Road (not White Store), Peachtree, Comus, 355, Snowden Farm and back on Stringtown. Distance is 31 miles and should allow a few quick stops to regroup along the way and allow us to get back by 10am. If you want a longer ride, consider riding to and from the shop.

For those of you who want a bit more, professional Triathlete Matthew R. McGoey (yes, my son) will be doing a short run after the ride.

If you're looking to do a triathlon or increase your performance, consider a consultation and training plan with Professional Ironman Triathlete Matthew R McGoey. Matthew recently placed third overall in the Professional Men's SuperTri qualifier in Austin, TX, competed in the SuperTri finals in Jersey, England and the IM 70.3 Professional World Championships in Nice, France. He can be contacted by email [email protected].

Keep in mind, as the season's change, daylight diminishes and the weather takes a turn for the worse, you can maintain and improve your fitness by riding on an indoor trainer. We have a great selection of Wahoo Fitness Kicker V6 and Kickr Core (Zwift cog & cassette) trainers in stock. If you mention that you received this email when you buy a trainer, we will include a free trainer mat ($90 value, while supply lasts).

When the temperatures drop below 40^, we will start indoor training rides on our "smart" trainers. Let me know if you prefer Zwift or Rouvy. I've started doing Rouvy rides because the routes have real world graphics and not animated cartoon graphics. Either way, both platforms are motivating and work very well.

Strava connects millions of runners, cyclists, hikers, walkers and other active people through the sports they love – all on our mobile app and website.

Hello All,

Saturday Shop Ride, Sept 19th's route will start out with the traditional Poolesville-Dickerson-Sugarloaf-Comus loop but will finish on Burnt Hill to Johnson Drive to Bethesda Church Road. There is a finish sprint on Johnson Drive and an uphill segment on Bethesda Church Rd from Kings Valley to the top at Rt27. Let's try to keep the group together so we can all contest the Red Cork Sprint on Johnson Drive.

Rain Rain Go Away.
Well, it looks like our run of nice Saturdays is over and we're in for a little rain tomorrow. The "official" shop ride is cancelled for tomorrow. If rain is eminent or coming down, then I won't be riding outside. I may just do a Rouvy ride instead and save my road miles for Sunday. If anyone is up for a 3-4hr "tempo" ride on Sunday, I'll be leaving from South Germantown Park traffic circle around 9am (could be persuaded to meet up by 8am). I plan on riding out towards Poolesville, Whites Ferry, Dickerson, Sugarloaf and back to SGtPk. Reply to this email if you're interested in meeting up for a Sunday ride.

Hello All,

Shop opens at 7:00 Ride rolls at 7:30am sharp. We will have to hold a steady pace and not too many quick stops so we can get back to the shop by 10am. Let's all work together to keep it rolling this week. The expected pace for the ride is 17+/-mph average. Please load the route on your GPS if you are unsure of the route or ability to maintain the pace.

Since the K2 Cafe has closed in Poolesville, we will be making a brief water stop at the gas station at the intersection of Beallsville Rd & Fisher Ave.

As always... we are responsible for one another's safety... please stay to the right half of the road and ride in a single or double pace line when possible... if you don't want to pull through, surf the draft at the back of the group. Road bike, helmet & daytime riding lights are required. Let's be safe and have a fun ride. Watermelon, cold water and wet iced face towels will be available after the ride...

NOTE:

Previous rides have been very spirited, and the group quickly broke up when riders got caught at traffic lights in Clarksburg. I will give a ride briefing before we start but let's all plan on riding together at an easier pace until we hit the first traffic circle on Clarksburg Road near the Shopping Outlet.

Regroup points (quick 1 minute or so stop):

(1) Barnesville Road & Selman (1 minute regroup)
(2) White Store-Peachtree (1 minute regroup)
(3) Peachtree-Lewis Orchard (1 minute regroup)
(4) Poolesville - (5 minute water stop and-or bathroom break)
(5) Dickerson MARC Station (1 minute regroup)
(6) Sugarloaf entrance (1 minute regroup and water stop)
(7) Snowden Farm- Clarksburg Rd (1 minute regroup)
(8) Oak Drive- top of climb (regroup with riders near you and ride together back to the shop)

If you want to, test your legs on the Strava segments and circle back to regroup with the ride. The last rider doesn't stop until we get to K2 Cafe and Sugarloaf entrance.
