Quick clarification — we’re not looking for marching bands. We’re looking for high school students who have formed their own bands and play live music!

Rock, country, indie, soul, r&b, funk, punk, alternative, jazz, bluegrass, etc. — any genre is welcome.

We’re looking for a band to perform a 30-minute opening set at Wiregrass Fest on Sunday, October 4!

The City of Dothan is inviting residents and visitors to celebrate the end of summer with an evening of free, family-friendly bluegrass music at Porter Park on Saturday, August 29.

The all-ages event will feature live performances from rising young bluegrass artist Shay Morgan, with local favorites The Byrd Family opening the show.

At just 15 years old, Morgan is already making a name for herself in the bluegrass and country music world. Fresh off her CMA debut, she has shared the stage with acclaimed artists including Carly Pearce, Ricky Skaggs and Molly Tuttle. Her performance at Porter Park offers audiences an opportunity to see a promising young artist early in her career.

The Byrd Family, a local bluegrass favorite, will kick off the evening with their signature sound.

Food trucks will open at 5 p.m., with Greek Street Dothan, P.S. Taco Company - Dothan, Sloozies and The Lemon Press serving a variety of food and refreshments.
