“Fun weekend out at r***e. Nice to finally do this one after a couple sessions. Such a cool climb with very hard powerful moves and being a tough power endurance route. Psyched to do some more r***e climbing in the beautiful canyon. Luckily I had the Crux Power sport chalk to keep my hands dry in the humid weather and the Send Climbing kneebars pads to help me rest up and keep climbing!”

“Dreefee - a piece of the process

The route involves 5 pitches of 5.13 - 13b, 13b, 13c, 13c, 13d (in that order, although it seems like most people have found the first 13c to be the actual crux). My first couple days trying it, I didn’t even do all the moves. On any of the crux pitches. 😳 It’s a unique blend of climbing - some of the pitches feel like climbing on gym style volumes and macro features while other pitches reward steely fingered crimping on micro features. Many sections required such subtlety in understanding the necessary body positions that it truly tested my belief that with enough patience I could find a way through.

Slowly, the individual pitches started to piece together but sending all of them in a day still seemed absurd. Through self doubt and unseasonably HOT temps, Rachel Ball and I kept showing up - building the fitness, learning the nuance of moves and pacing, leaning into the pressure of trying to send a final crux pitch, until we finally did.

Many people played a role in shifting this route from dream to reality - from helping get the rope up at the beginning to sending beta or words of encouragement, from sharing driveway space for the van to sharing time with me on the wall - and I am immensely thankful for each of you.”
