Most people think they're underperforming. They're just in the wrong seat.
I've spent two decades watching this play out in real people. Gifted kids who got labeled "too much" in a classroom built for the average pace. Twice-exceptional adults who ace the interview and then get managed like a problem to contain. Polymathic operators who get told to "pick a lane" by people who've never had to build one.
Here's the thing nobody says out loud: none of that is a capability problem. It's a placement problem.
Your brain runs spider-web cognition, not a straight line. Burst productive, not steady-state. Fast-processing, pattern-jumping, allergic to busywork that doesn't connect to something real. That's not a flaw to manage. That's a specific kind of engine and most environments were never built to run it.
You don't need to shrink. You don't need another productivity hack duct-taped onto a job that was never designed for how you actually think. You need the right seat, the right room, the right structure around the thing that already works.
