This is why I went out of network with commercial health insurance plans over four years ago.

Insurance companies don't value the services chiropractors, PTs, and Occupational Therapists bring to the health care field.

Insurance companies keep reducing reimbursement rates and in this case they are eliminating reimbursement for an entire CPT code.

Who suffers the most? The patients. Patients will assume more out of pocket expenses when insurance companies eliminate coverage for necessary services.

I charge a flat rate for my services. I don't charge more for more time with me, either. I don't charge for personally calling your doctor when we need to coordinate care. I don't change more for ordering tests. All my patients receive my personal cell. I receive text messages from patients at all hours of the day because I genuinely care. Patients don't have to pay extra to have access to me after hours.

All for $40.

I can afford to do this because I don't have staff. I can afford to do this because I am not motivated by money nor expensive toys.

I am motivated to help people accomplish things they never thought they could achieve.

Insurance companies are motivated by profit as they should be. They owe it to their shareholders or their non-profit board of trustees.

Leave your insurance card at home. You won't need it here. You'll actually save money by not using your insurance at my office. Chiropractic care, fitness solutions, no nonsense nutritional guidance, and someone who is genuinely interested in seeing you get healthier... That's what you get with me.

Steve Krauza's Ride of Gratitude (WTAE-TV) 08/28/2026

A week ago today I completed a bike ride from UPMC Hamot to UMPC Mercy in Pittsburgh to celebrate the wonderful care I received from UPMC.

Many people have asked me how it went. After 136 miles, 7,600 ft of elevation gain, and a persistent head wind the entire way, I rolled into Pittsburgh 10 hours and 20 minutes later.

Here is the local news coverage from that moment.

Thank you to everyone for their support over this past year as I recovered from the stroke in July 2025.

Sue's and Eric's garden masterpiece took a little bit longer to complete this year due to unforeseen circumstances, but alas here is their final artwork!

As always, they never disappoint! These year's theme was inspired by The United States 250th birthday.

Thank you, Sue and Eric for your creativity and hard work!

Programming note:

I normally take off the last Friday of the month, but this month I am taking off next Friday to ride my bicycle to Pittsburgh. I will be closed Friday, August 21st. I will be open Friday, August 28th.

I will also be closed on Tuesday, August 25th, as I will be out of town that day.

Thank you for your understanding.

The first attempt of this ride was postponed due to terrible air quality the day of the ride. We are going to attempt it again on Friday, August 21st!

Join me for the send off as I show my gratitude to the entire stroke care team for their compassion, expertise, and support over this past year.

(I will be out of the office this day, but i will be in the office the last Friday of the month as a result)

If you are out for a walk, coming in for an appointment, or just happen to be in the area, feel free to grab some cherry tomatoes. These are growing in the planter beneath the front windows. Have a snack or take some for a salad. These cherry tomatoes are fresh, sweet, and packed full of nutrients. Enjoy!

I have added adjustable gymnastics rings to the pull up bars. Enjoy the added dynamics with body weight exercises. The rings add a dimension of instability for further strength gains. Be careful with them, though. Ring progressions take time, so be patient with the process.

Have Fun!

After a successful bike ride to Pittsburgh to mark the one year anniversary of my stroke last Friday, followed up by a week long vacation in the rain soaked Outer Banks with my family and friends from high school, I am back in the office this week! I will be returning phone calls, text messages, emails, FB messages, and carrier pigeon messages over the coming days.

(Total distance: 138 miles, 7400 ft elevation gain, 9 hrs 22 min in the saddle, 11 hrs 50 min total)

As summer winds down, my schedule will be resuming to normal. I am grateful for everyone's understanding and patience over these past two weeks with my availability being spotty.

I'll see you soon!

(I will be riding to Pittsburgh again soon on behalf of the excellent care provided by the stroke team once I can coordinate a date with the folks at UPMC. UPMC has been a phenomenal partner in this entire process, but due to the terrible air quality on Friday, UPMC and I agreed to postpone their involvement with the ride on the 17th)

Just a reminder I am out of the office all week. I'll be back in the office on Monday, July 27th.

I'll respond to everyone's appt text requests next week when I get back.

Cheers!

There's not enough outdoor publicly accessible pull up bars in this world, so I installed some at my office.

This is a reminder these pull up bars are for everyone to use at any time of the day. Walking through the parking lot? Try a dead hang to decompress your spine. Want to set a goal of being able to perform one good clean pull up in your lifetime? Use these pull up bars as your training facility.

If you use these pull up bars, take pictures. Share them on this page or on your other social media accounts.

Just be safe. Use common sense.

Come hang out at Doc's Bar with me!
