Northern Virginia Senior Softball

Northern Virginia Senior Softball “You don’t stop playing because you grow old; you grow old because you stop playing”. Average age is 65. Not a try-out. Everyone present bats; 11 play defense.

For fun, fitness, and friendship, open to men 50+ and women 40+, join Northern Virginia Senior Softball (NVSS) to play two slow-pitch doubleheaders on Tuesday & Thursday mornings. Summer Season runs from mid-April through July; Fall Season is played in September and October. Placement on a team in one of 3 skill-level conferences is based on skills and capabilities. CONGRATULATIONS to Bill Bahnmaier who set a new record while competing in today's track events of the Northern Virginia Senior Olympics. Bill ran the 60 meter dash in 10.94 seconds, a new record for the men's 85-89 age category. The previous record was 11.15 seconds set in 2021 by Jerry Bradley.

Don't let the age category fool you. Bill's time would have won gold or another medal in some of the younger age tiers, too.

Continental LIGHT BLUE was undefeated until they met up with sixth-place RED who won the first game 9-6. Unfortunately, only fifth-place ORANGE gained a game by beating MAROON twice. All other teams split their doubleheader.
