Stellar performances by these two Grappling Industries yesterday! We had 2 competitiors enter and both represented to the fullest. Eli Wilson took home gold with 2 submissions and a win on points! Cyrus Kayulu again at 16yrs old entered the adults 185lb division going 4-1 with 3 submissions securing bronze. Both men showcased our recent front choke series hitting a variety of darce, anaconda, guillotine and arm triangles. Great job gentlemen!

Before the UFC lights, there was a South Coast kid putting in rounds wherever the work was real. đĽ
Fall River, Mitch Raposo just gave this city another reason to stand up.
On June 20, Mitch stepped into UFC Vegas 119 against Allan Nascimento and walked out with a split decision win. Two judges had it 29-28 for Mitch. The fight was tense, fast, and not comfortable for a second. Mitch took the early rounds with speed, movement, and sharp striking, then had to survive a dangerous third-round push when Nascimento dropped him and tried to steal the fight late.
That is where you learn what a fighter is made of.
Not when everything is clean.
Not when the crowd is calm.
Not when the round is easy.
You find out when the other guy is coming hard, the clock feels slow, and you still have to make it to the horn.
Mitch did.
And now Fall River has a UFC fighter on a two-fight win streak.
But this story did not start under UFC lights.
Mitch started young, and part of those early roots run through Gillettâs MMA in Tiverton, where he trained and had early local fight experience before most people around here ever knew his name.
That matters, because fighters are not built in one night. They are built in small rooms, local gyms, hard rounds, quiet lessons, and years of showing up before anybody is watching.
Then came Regiment Training Center in Fall River.
That is the gym Mitch represents now. That is the Plymouth Avenue fight room tied to his UFC run, his coaches, his teammates, and the camp that helped sharpen a Fall River kid into a fighter who can win on the biggest stage in the sport.
Regiment Training Center is not just a gym name under a fighter profile.
It is a real Fall River fight room.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
No-gi grappling.
Judo.
Striking.
Wrestling.
Kids classes.
An MMA fight team.
Coach Brian Raposo leads the striking side. Coach Tommy Teixeira leads the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and grappling side. That combination matters, because MMA does not let you hide anymore.
You need hands.
You need wrestling.
You need grappling.
You need cardio.
You need people around you who will tell you the truth when the round was not good enough.
That is the kind of room Regiment has built.
And Mitch did not come out of nowhere.
Durfee grad.
Fall River fighter.
Cage Titans champion.
CES title winner.
The Ultimate Fighter.
Dana Whiteâs Contender Series.
Short-notice UFC debut.
Close decisions.
Setbacks.
Illness that postponed the original Nascimento fight.
Then back-to-back UFC wins.
That is not luck.
That is years.
That is coaching.
That is family.
That is Fall River toughness with technique behind it.
And Mitch is not the only name connected to Regiment who has reached big stages.
Yorgan âThe Mad Titanâ De Castro came through Regiment Training Center and made it all the way to the UFC, where he scored a huge first-round knockout in his debut.
Kris Moutinho, another Regiment fighter, got the call to the UFC and stepped into the spotlight at UFC 264 against Sean OâMalley on short notice.
Pat McCrohan, Domingos Barros, Aaron âShort Fuseâ Hughes, and other fighters have also helped make Regiment part of the New England MMA conversation.
So when Mitch Raposo wins in the UFC, understand what Fall River is really watching.
We are watching a local kid carry every early round, every coach, every teammate, every gym that helped shape him, and every person from this city who knows what it means to keep going when nobody is making it easy.
From Gillettâs early roots.
To Durfee.
To Regiment Training Center on Plymouth Avenue.
To the UFC Octagon.
That road started around here.
And now the world is seeing where it can lead.
Fall River, letâs show Mitch Raposo, Regiment Training Center, and the local fight community the respect they earned.
