Great Mental Performance session today with .baseball!
To prepare for the upcoming season we discussed:
- developing a growth mindset

Do your knees tend to collapse when squatting or jumping?
Knee valgus is common when abductor muscles (gluteus medius & minimus) are weak and/or aren’t being properly recruited
Strengthening and activating these muscles prior to plyometrics, squatting etc. is crucial in preventing pain, stress on knee ligaments, and potential injury
At G-FIT, we take pride in making sure exercises are executed safely and properly to improve performance, prevent injury, and maximize results for all of our athletes

Mental tip for athletes:
Your mind will believe whatever you tell it!
If your self-talk is consistently negative, your mental state AND athletic performance will follow suit
If you want to feel better mentally and perform better physically, focus on what you WANT and challenge yourself to find a positive replacement for any negative thoughts and statements:
I’m tired ➡️ I’m energized
I can’t do it ➡️ I got this
I suck ➡️ I’m fully capable
Improved mental = improved performance

When we focus on only the negative side of our performance we’ll continue to make more mistakes, feel discouraged, and fall short of our goals.
Shifting our focus to what we’ve done well and how we’ve improved (even in the smallest ways!) automatically boosts our confidence, decreases our fear of making mistakes, gives us the courage to take more risks and leads to better overall performance and success.
