Y’all did it.

This year by the numbers: As best we can tell, we had at least:

• 64 total runners
• 8 relay teams participated, with 56 relayers
• 8 full marathoners completed the course, including 4 first-time 26.2 marathoners (shoutout to Spencer, Ritchie, Benjamin, and Kevin!)
• 20+ volunteers(!)

Thanks again for everyone who was part this ‘community potluck’ style race around Grand Rapids!

What a fun day.

THANK YOU for everyone who was part this ‘community potluck’ style race around Grand Rapids! To the extent this was a successful second running of /the overGRound marathon/relay, it was surely a ‘group run’ —without the energy, enthusiastic participation, and readiness to chip in from the various run communities, partners, and individuals who ran, cheered, and volunteered, it wouldn’t have happened.

Participating clubs: Friendship Miles, Lyon Street Run Club, No Surrender Running Club, November Project Grand Rapids, Society Track Club, and Village Rec Club.

*7 Weeks to Race Day! Calling All Relay Teams*

The second running of the overGRound is in seven weeks! We have an impressive *13* full marathoners signed up to cover the urban course showcasing a variety of GR neighborhoods and features.

Time to start getting those relay team together! RunSignup makes it easy: either start a new team yourself and give it a name (can be changed later), or find an existing team to join. You can split up the 26.2 with your teammates however you'd like.

The 2025 Participant Guide is now (mostly) ready and found on the RunSignup page, for those who'd like more details about teams, course, and more.

Reminder: the overGRound is a free, grassroots, co-hosted event featuring the many wonderful running and fitness communities of Grand Rapids. This year's participating clubs include (so far) Lyon Street Run Club, November Project Grand Rapids, Friendship Miles, Society Track Club, Village Rec Club, and No Surrender Running Club.

Join us again, or for the first time, on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

Over 40 runners are signed up and course is marked! See you tomorrow at Veterans Park. Start at 8, runners expected back between 11-2. Weather is looking ideal for runners and spectators alike. Let’s goooo!
