We foster economic development by attracting sporting events that improve our citizens' quality of life and elevate the brand of Grand Rapids.

The West Michigan Sports Commission is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) that identifies, secures and hosts a diverse level of youth and amateur sporting events to make a positive impact on the region’s economy and quality of life. Since its inception in 2007, the WMSC has booked over 600 sporting events and tournaments that attracted 1,000,000 athletes and visitors, generating $290 million in direct visitor spending.

This August in Grand Rapids sports:

⚾️ Game Day USA All-Star Weekend – August 14-16; Top youth baseball players from around the country gather at the Meijer Sports Complex for a showcase weekend featuring skills competitions and all-star games.

🏊‍♂️ MI Titanium – August 16; This annual triathlon brings athletes together to swim, bike, and run through Versluis Park.

⚽️ Grand Rapids Cup – August 21-23; Youth soccer teams from across the region compete in one of West Michigan’s largest and most competitive soccer tournaments.

🥋 FUJI BJJ Grand Rapids Summer Championship – August 22; Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes of all ages and skill levels take to the mats to compete for championship titles.

🏒 Grand Rapids AAA Kickoff Classic – August 28-30; Elite youth hockey teams kick off the season with a weekend of high-level competition in Grand Rapids.

🥎 USA Softball Men’s D & E Slow Pitch Northern Tournament – August 28-30; Adult softball teams from across the region compete at Meijer Sports Complex

🚩MHSAA Officiate Michigan Day Meeting - July 25; a statewide gathering of high school sports officials for training, networking, and professional development.

📣NASO Annual Summit Conference - July 26-28; an event that provides officials and officiating leaders resources and the opportunity to network and share their perspectives and experiences.

🏀Point Guard Prep Youth Basketball Camp - July 27-31; a camp to bring young basketball players together for a week of learning, competition, and fun on the court.

⚾USSSA Summer Finale High School Baseball Tournament - July 30-August 2; Get ready for the ultimate showdown at the USSSA Summer Finale 5GG! Baseball talents from across the region will converge at The Meijer Sports Complex for an unforgettable tournament experience.

Para Powerlifting athletes took to the platform at Mary Free Bed YMCA and delivered impressive performances, showcasing power, determination, and months of hard work at The Hartford Nationals, conducted by Move United Sport. Athletes also had the opportunity to hit the field for a softball clinic, making for an evening packed with competition and skill-building.
