Something completely random happened to me this week⌠and somehow, it felt like exactly what I needed. â¤ď¸
The parents of my best friend from my hometown of 500 people stopped by to have lunch with me.
We talked about old times.
We talked about our kids.
We talked about how much life has changed⌠and how much somehow still feels exactly the same.
My best friend from high school and I now live on opposite sides of the country, so when I say this was random, I mean really random.
But after they left, my friend texted me.
She said, âMy parents were so happy to see you and so proud of all youâve done.â
And honestly⌠that hit me.
Sometimes you donât realize how much you need to hear those words until someone says them out loud.
Because somewhere between growing up, becoming a mom, building a business, raising kids, school pickups, piano lessons, coaching softball, and trying to keep up with all the pieces of life⌠itâs easy to forget to stop and recognize how far youâve come.
So hearing that from people who knew me way back then felt different.
It felt like a little reminder from my past telling me,
âHey. Look at you. Youâre doing okay.â â¤ď¸
I miss you, friend.
I know weâll meet again.
Maybe when our kids are grown.
Maybe when our calendars arenât packed six months out.
Maybe when we arenât constantly strapped for time and balancing all the things motherhood asks of us.
And when that day comes, I hope we can sit across from each other and pick right back up where we left off.
Until then⌠Iâm grateful for random lunches, unexpected texts, old friendships, and the people who knew us before life got so busy.
Sometimes a simple message can reach you at exactly the right moment.
This one did. â¤ď¸
