Stability is the control of mobility.

We practiced this every time we do pilates.

Feet in loops!

A fan favorite. I’d say this is a favorite for many people.

But for the wrong reasons. They often get their feet in the loops and then just let the ropes do the work.

We are still controlling the movement of our legs with control and precision.

I encourage those I teach to really slow it down to feel any slight change in their body.

You’ll be surprised when you start to feel a shift.

❤️

Single leg foot in loop!

Try it on 1 red spring or 1 blue and notice the difference.

We are seeking pelvic stability and moving slowly with precision.

Pilates will activate with the single leg that is not connected to the loop.

Keep the upper body stable as well and as always remember to breathe 🙂

Of course repeat on the other side of the body!

Open leg rocker!

This one is challenging!

Balance, core strength, breath and flexibility all come into play for one exercise!

Start with the knees bent and learning how to roll to the shoulders and then back up to balance.

After that try progressing to the full movement!

Remember, practice!

Steering the wheel or around the world is a tricky one!

We are finding rotation from the pelvis and using the abdominals.

It’s easy to just use your arms and make a circle but then we are missing the whole exercise. Lower is steady, legs don’t come with.

Work with your instructor today to practice this one!

Anyone who has trained with me knows how I empathize the breath when we practice pilates. 😮‍💨

It is one of the reasons I love it so much.

Understanding, how important a true deep breath is to the practice but also for your overall health and wellness is an eye opener.

I was once training with a marathon runner, learning together in a class.

She said to me, “wow, your breathing is really good!”
Of course I said thank you but also thought to myself, it didn’t happen overnight. I had to train and practice a diaphragm breath until I truly understood it. That happened with martial arts.

Now I do my best to install that knowledge to others. Sometimes I’m more strict, other times I’m softer with my approach.

Once you connect to the breath and understand it facilitates movement and movement facilitates breath, you have awakened to a new level!

Let’s practice a half round back on the Cadillac or at your springboard.

You could teach this on the reformer as well.

Watch my alignment in the beginning…seated tall and then slouching.

Go slow. Move with your breath.
