There may be a good reason.

During peak summer heat and periods of high heat stress, ruminants like whitetail deer will often reduce their feed intake to help limit the additional heat created through rumen fermentation and digestion.

So if your trail camera activity slows down when the heat cranks up, it doesn’t necessarily mean the deer disappeared, they may simply be eating less and adjusting their activity to deal with the heat.
