Old Hickory Lake

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District will conduct a temporary drawdown of Old Hickory Lake this November to assess shoreline conditions and perform essential recreation area maintenance.

A slow drawdown is scheduled to begin Nov. 2, 2026, from the lake’s normal pool elevation of approximately 445 MSL to a target elevation of 443 MSL by Nov. 6, 2026. This target elevation is scheduled to be maintained through Nov. 20, 2026. USACE aims to recover to normal pool, 445 MSL, by Nov. 28, 2026.

As our nation marks the 25th anniversary of September 11, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District pauses to honor the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the brave responders who answered the call in our country’s darkest hour.

Within hours of the attacks in 2001, five dedicated Nashville District team members mobilized to Ground Zero. Operating from Pier 90 in Manhattan, Sowell drove and maintained an Emergency Command and Control Vehicle (ECCV), establishing a critical communications lifeline for firefighters, police, and emergency personnel when standard networks were completely severed.

Working around the clock, the Nashville team restored vital satellite links and radio interoperability while emergency management personnel helped lead the 24-hour Emergency Operations Center for the North Atlantic Division.

We remain steadfast in our promise to never forget the sacrifices made that day or the quiet dedication of those who helped rebuild and recover.

UPDATE!
TC Energy's pipeline is still exposed on Barton's Creek. In response, TC Energy has added additional safety measures to alert boaters to the hazard. Lights and reflectors have been attached to the pipeline and cautionary buoys have been added outside pipeline route as well as above and below the pipeline. Security Patrols during daylight hours will continue over the weekend and through the holiday.
Barton’s Creek Boat Ramp remains closed due to the navigational hazard.

Due to a navigation hazard Near Barton's Creek, the boat ramp is temporarily closed. Please re-route to another boat ramp.

Nearby boat ramps, Sandy Chappel located at 500 Wilson Boat Dock Rd, Lebanon, TN 37087 and Bently's Landing located at 940 Ramsey Rd, Lebanon, TN 37087 remain open.

TC Energy has an underground pipline that has become exposed in Barton's Creek (Lebanon) near coordinates 36°17'26.4"N 86°22'35.7"W. TC Energy will deploy a security boat to help guide boaters around the hazard, but please still take care if you plan on boating in this area.
