There are always a few students in my CPR and First Aid classes who ask about having an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) at home.
Having an AED at home is only part of the equation. Do you know how to perform CPR and properly use an AED if an emergency happens?
If you're considering purchasing an AED for your home, this is a great time to learn CPR and AED skills. Having the equipment is important, but knowing how and when to use it can make all the difference.
Be prepared. Get trained. You could help save a life!

These potentially lifesaving machines are available without a prescription. Should you get one?

You don’t need to be a medical professional to save a life. Anyone can perform CPR. Even you.

Just know two simple steps. If a teen or adult collapses, call 911 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest.

When an emergency happens, our first instinct is often to rush in and help. But acting without assessing the situation could put you in danger, too.
The first step in first aid is to check the scene for safety. If the scene is unsafe, do not approach. Call 911 and wait for trained emergency responders.
Don't become the second victim. Stay safe so you can help when it's safe to do so.

"The AHA now recommends introducing CPR training to children younger than 12 years old to help build confidence and willingness to act as future lay rescuers. Promoting Hands-Only CPR through mass training and community initiatives can increase lay rescuer willingness to act in emergencies."
Introduce CPR training early and build onto it as they mature. https://www.prestan.com
