8th grade semi-formal. ❤️
Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it as I watch Maddux head off to high school. He’s smart, caring, witty, and somehow taller than me now.
But no matter how grown up he looks in these photos, I still hear that little toddler voice calling a bulldozer a “buldashoulder” trying to teach his brother’s all the things with a mix of impatience and love and making dinosaur noises around the house.
It’s funny how you can look at the same face and see every version of them all at once.
So proud of the young man he’s becoming, while missing that little boy just a tiny bit too.

This platform for me has always been a mashup of my kids, mom life, barre and workouts I love, events I have the privilege of hosting, and of course nutrition and lunchbox ideas.
But as I wrap up another incredible round of teacher training — and prepare to embark on another one — I’ve realized I want to start sharing more of the “why” behind what I do and the conversations I’m passionate about within this industry.
What really sets instructors apart. For me, it’s the hustle.
Not the “teach 15 classes a day and burn yourself into the ground” kind of hustle. Not the hustle that glorifies exhaustion.
I mean the willingness to put yourself out there. To take chances. To align yourself with the right opportunities — the ones that give you exposure, allow you to showcase your creativity, build your brand, and get uncomfortable .
there’s room for all of us in this industry. But building your name and your following takes time.
It may mean as a new instructor you don’t get the packed classes right away. You may not get the “perfect” time slots. You may have to grind a little before things start to click.
Personally-that hustle looks like sitting in traffic driving into the city every single week to teach a free outdoor class (shout out to Blue Cross Blue Shield for paying me 😂). I never know if I’m rolling up to teach 2 people or 60 people… but honestly that’s part of what makes it fun.
The instructors who continue to grow are usually the ones willing to stay curious, keep learning, collaborate, network, support others, and show up consistently even when it feels uncomfortable or slow.
Talent and knowledge matters, but so does energy, authenticity, work ethic, and the ability to create an experience people remember.
So while there will still be workouts, kids, coffee, lunchboxes, and everyday chaos here… I’m excited to also start talking more about coaching, leadership, growth, and the business side of being in fitness. 💜
