Don’t fence me in—Dan is a man with a plan to ride coast-to-coast in 2027, and his journey started this summer by asking us to help him build a rig that will get him there. We started with a Salsa Fargo Ti frame and Cutthroat carbon fork, and Teravail Fluent Mountain carbon wheel set. Since Dan’s plan involves hundreds and hundreds of hours in the saddle, we threw in a full bike fit session which revealed a bonus: Dan wanted plenty of room for a future handlebar bag without giving up space on the Teravail Radia carbon handlebar. His preferred riding position left us plenty of room to fun-gineer a bag mount from another stem and a cut-down bar—stupid in the good way! Restrap bags swallow plenty of gear for his cross-country ride, and Salsa’s Alternator adventure-tested rear rack is rock solid. Dan’s currently building his hours and bike camping chops with long weekend overnighters and shorter multi-day tours. Wish him tailwinds when you see him around the region!

Terry’s rocking her new Electra Townie Go! S E-bike in stunning Orchid. As her rides have grown in mileage (she’s a Ho-Flo Hundred veteran), she had earned an upgrade from her Trek Verve+ 1 E-bike and its smaller battery. She traded in the Verve+ for the bigger battery of the Townie Go! and its 50-mile pedal-assist range…and that paint job! It’s the third bike Terry’s bought from us as her love of cycling grows. Thanks for making us part of your cycling journey, Terry! Also, check out our Pre-Owned Bikes on the website if you’re looking for a well-cared for, lightweight E-bike with free tune ups for life.

We have WAY too many Trek E-bikes on the floor for September in the Midwest. (Thanks, summer heat waves, smoke, & tornadoes!) And 2027 models are coming in. Save hundreds on in-store Trek Charter+, FX+ 7S, and FX+ 1S. Clearance prices marked in-store only, not on-line, so stop by and test ride for the best deal. Prices last until they, like this less-than-optimal summer, are gone.

I can count on 3/5ths of one hand how many customers, throwing their leg over a test-ride bike for the first time, have immediately sprinted out of the parking lot; if I hadn’t had Ben’s drivers license and car keys in my pocket, I would have thought he was stealing it. The bike, a Trek Domane AL 2 in Fury Red, was a willing partner in (not a) crime, light, responsive and well within a Purdue student’s budget. Ben bought it for the cardio, but also because dad has a nice, fast road bike that Ben doesn’t get to take to school. Thanks, Ben, for being our customer, and keep that bike out of the trees!

Mary was surprised when, on their first date, James pulled up on his brand new Miyata Americana to pick her up. It was 1977, and Mary rode sidesaddle on the top tube. This past Tuesday, 49 years later, they brought the classic lugged-steel beauty to us, hoping the bike (which still has thousands and thousands of miles to give) could find a new home. We shared that we’re a donation point for Working Bikes, who picks up 25-50 bikes every month from us to help those bikes find their next riders instead of the scrap heap. A nip of sadness from letting go, but overall James and Mary feel really good knowing the bike will foster the joy of cycling—and new relationships!—for someone else. We accept donated bikes any day we’re open, no appointment necessary. Thank you James & Mary for sharing this bike and your story with us!

Paul knew our remaining Gen 4 Domanes were on clearance and was bummed that his size was gone…until we gave him a sneak peek at the new Gen 5. Lighter weight, more than $1000 less than the Gen 4, and gorgeous in Buff Beige…Paul’s not missing a thing. Show it off on a Saturday Barb & Dan’s Road Ride, Paul! And thanks for choosing us as your bike shop!

Karen had a Trek FX 3 from a few years back; a nice bike, but—as one does—she recently began to wonder if there was there an even better version…something lighter, even more responsive, more comfortable? Yup! After a test ride, Karen traded in her old bike toward a full-carbon, 23 lb. Trek FX 4 Sport. Easier to lift onto the car carrier, cushier over the bumps, more rewarding to pedal. And all of the FX Sport line rides on higher volume, gravel-ready tires, expanding the trails she can explore. Enjoy the beautiful weather that’s finally arrived, Karen, and thanks for being our customer!

Cameron didn’t think of himself as a mountain biker, but as a guy who wanted to try mountain biking. Newsflash, Cameron: we are all mountain bikers; we just need a fun, capable and affordable bike like Trek’s Roscoe 7 and trails to ride like CAMBr MTB’s Palos network or Friends of Big Marsh to realize it. The skinwall tires look sharp against that Buff Beige colorway, Cam; can’t wait to see them dirty and you laughing like a fiend, you mountain biker you! Thanks for letting us be your Roscoe hookup!
