We are so excited for Mrs. Denise! 💜

With the retirement of long-time AHA leader Kelly Huston, the Arabian Horse Association is pleased to announce that Denise Shannon has joined our team as the new Registry & Member Services Manager.

Denise brings a rare combination of hands-on Arabian breeding and registry expertise paired with strong team and process management experience. Since the mid-1990s, she has worked extensively in Arabian breeding management, handling registration paperwork, import/export documentation, and pedigree recordkeeping for major operations including Al-Marah Arabians and Michael Byatt Arabians, where she managed a herd of 150–350 horses and oversaw more than $1M per month in operations, as well as managing Magic Moments Stable.

Denise also brings current, firsthand familiarity with our Registry: she has served on the AHA Registration Commission since March 2025 and currently sits on the AHA Commissioners Review Panel. Her broader industry leadership includes founding the Arabian Breeders Cooperative in 2018, which has grown to more than 750 members, along with service on the International Andalusian and Lusitano Horse Association Registry Board and the AHA Region 9 Youth Foundation Board. Her management background spans staff hiring and training, budget and vendor oversight, customer relations, and building recordkeeping and metrics systems — experience that lines up directly with this role's focus on improving registration and membership processes and elevating customer service.

Denise holds a Master's in Agriculture (Equine Breeding Farm Management) from Texas A&M and a B.S. in Animal Science from Virginia Tech.

Denise is relocating to Colorado to take on this role and will be leading our Registry and Membership Services team.
