Back at the loft after 12 days sailing to Hawaii. Great crew and good times aboard the Olson 34 Keaka. We even got to use the Genoa and Spinnaker Stays’l’s we built for the boat most of the way across.

The season is starting early this year. Lots on at the loft.

Happy Vernal Equinox everyone. I think this is the earliest that we have ever removed the windows here in the loft.

Working on a sail from 1958 here in the loft today.

Cox Moulded sails built in Oakland. One story, probably not true, I heard said that they had a full size sail mould that they would put the sewn panels over and then shovel hot sand over the cloth to help it expand into shape.

Sail still actually looks pretty good for its age.

When the Sail tie looks like this, you know you have a big job on your hands.

Brrr. Frost on the windows here in the sail loft this morning.

Congratulations to Ravi Parent on his second place finish at the recently concluded A-Class Catamaran World Championship in New Zealand. Ravi tied for the most race wins with 4 wins out of the 12 races sailed and finished two points behind three time A-Cat world champion Kuba Surowiec.

Ravi used a sail we built here in Alameda over the summer to a design by Jay Glazer. We look forward to working with them both again for next years worlds in Florida.

Had some young visitors in the loft today. It’s fun showing folks how we do things here.
