Emily swims CRAZY long distances!
Spring is in the air and summer is JUST around the corner...many of us will have our young children around water. I have to share the incredible experience our family had with Glacier ISR (Infant Swimming Resource) this spring. ISR lessons are not "traditional" swimming lessons, they teach children self rescue.
My daughter Lexie is 9 months old. She finished up ISR lessons last week. This video is from week five of the six week program. Lexie just started crawling about two weeks ago, but now she can float, for a pretty long time for a BABY. Now, don't get me wrong she was comfortable in water before we started these lessons, but she could not float.
When Lexie goes under water now, she automatically tips her head back and gets herself into her float. It is absolutely amazing to watch.
Lexie's swim instructor is Rachel Jessup and Lexie absolutely adores her. I highly recommend Rachel Jessup and Glacier ISR. If you want to increase your young child's safety around water, please check out this program, you will not be disappointed. Rachel is so good with kids and I was blown away by the progress Lexie made over the six week session.

We have over 60 open water swimmers coming to Big Arm State Park on July 20, 21, 22 to compete in the Fifth Annual Flathead Lake Swim Series. This event is an enormous fundraiser for the Enduring Waves Foundation which raises money for children with special medical expenses.
We have a FUN and EXCITING volunteer opportunity for those who enjoy kayaking. We provide our athletes in the 10K and 5K races with an assigned kayaker to stay near them throughout the race for safety. While kayakers are not permitted to feed the swimmers during the race :) they can offer encouragement in addition to the safety component. I promise if you sign up to kayak during this event you will be inspired by these athletes.
All of the details such as length of shifts, times, etc can be found on the link below. If you have any questions please post them below or send me a pm!
Calling all volunteers! Our sign up link for volunteers for the 5th Annual Flathead Lake Swim Series is live, please consider signing up for a shift or two to help the Enduring Waves Foundation raise money for Montana children with special medical expenses.

My sister Amanda and nephew Lucas live in China, but were here in Montana for my charity swim this year. This article is on a Swim-a-thon Lucas took part in shortly after returning to china. His goal was to complete between 30 & 50 laps and he went around and solicited sponsors for this fundraiser to raise money for sick children. Little Lucas ended up completing 80 laps! Lucas told his mom we wanted to "do just what auntie did."
You never know how closely little eyes are watching you. :)

Hi everyone! Thank you all SO SO much for the love and support. It was so beautiful to have so many people on shore waiting for me and John to finish our swim last night. I wish I could have thanked each one of you individually and given you each a giant hug. I did need prompt medical attention following my swim and ultimately was transported to the hospital as a safety precaution. I was medically cleared after several hours at the hospital. I am doing well today, but slightly sore and "crispy" from a pretty significant sunburn on the backs of my legs. Again, thank you ALL from the bottom of my heart.
