What inspired me to do Hmong dance is how beautiful dance can represent the Hmong culture. Hmong dancing is very unique and eye catching. It really inspired me to be apart of Kansas Sunlights to showcase Hmong culture.

I’m team freestyle! I love the freestyle rounds and the beautiful outfits.

Hi my name is Laslie and what inspired me to choose Hmong dance is the sisterhood with all of the other girls as well as the feeling of being more connected to my Hmong heritage.

🌼Favorite memory with the team?
It’s hard to choose just one moment because I love every moment I spend with these ladies but if I had to choose then it would be OKHNY 25’ because we definitely had to go through a lot due to the weather but we stuck it out together. The experience just showed that when you’re surrounded by the right people, anything can be fun!

What inspire me to join KSSL was that I always wanted to grow closer with my culture and do something that I always loved.

🌼My favorite memory with the team?
My favorite memory with Kansas Sunlights was when we got sushi. It was so delicious and I got to know more about the girlys.

I love being able to express the beauty and history of the Hmong culture through dancing, while making long lasting memories with the team.

My favorite memory with the team was playing tapple during our christmas sleepover (we still joke about it till this day). “yk know what…”

Hii, my name is Belle Xiong. I do hmong dancing because I find it as a way to be closer within my hmong culture since there aren't many ways that I can.

🌼What is one goal you have for this season?
One goal I have for this season is to place top 3!

What inspired me to choose Hmong dance is that, it is my culture and I can represent it by dancing. I can also be myself while doing what I love to do the most, which is Hmong dancing.

🌼Team Hmong dance or team freestyle?
I am team freestyle because the music is more upbeat and the dance movements can be a lot sassier which makes it a fun dance for me to perform.

I was inspired by Hmong dancing because ever since | was little, I loved to dance for fun! When I first saw people dancing to Hmong songs, I was so amazed by how they danced, their stage presence, and how they moved really smooth. It made me want to try Hmong dancing and getting to know more about our culture.

I am team Hmong dance because I learn more about the Hmong culture and how every movement has meaning to it!

What inspired me to choose Hmong dance was the way dancers carried themselves on stage with so much passion, confidence, and glow. Watching them made me want to experience that same feeling for myself. Especially in Kansas, where there aren't many Hmong dance groups, I wanted to help create a space where that passion and culture could be shared with others!

🌼What is your favorite choreography?
My favorite choreography is our Red Khmer 2024 dance. It was the first choreography I created, so it holds a lot of sentimental value to me. Even now, I look back at it and see how much both the team and I have grown!
