Johnny brings more than game-day energy. He brings a people-first mindset that connects business, basketball, and real relationships.

As Director of Temporary Staffing at Milliner Talent Solutions, he partners with organizations to connect them with talented professionals who can make an immediate impact. His focus is simple. Understand unique business needs, build strong relationships, and deliver quality talent that helps companies grow while creating meaningful opportunities for candidates. “I help great companies find great people.”

If you are a business leader who values people and culture and sees staffing as a true partnership not just a transaction, he’d love to connect.

Off the court, it’s family time with his wife and two boys, a round of golf with friends, trying out new breweries, or simply unwinding.

Johnny says it best. “The perfect way to start a Friday. An amazing way to connect with like-minded individuals who are all finding success in their own way. Because of the Pickup Project, I have met so many great people here in Indianapolis!”

Pull up every Friday at The Pickup Project Indy and run it with Johnny. See you on the court 🏀🔥

And sometimes, that’s what matters most.

Not being the best player.
Not having the perfect shot.
Not winning every game.

Just showing up.

Showing up when it’s early.
Showing up when you’re busy.
Showing up when you’d rather hit snooze.

Because growth doesn’t come from being the most talented, it comes from being consistent.

Every Friday, people from all walks of life step onto the court with one thing in common: they showed up.

Make your Friday count.

Six months ago, we launched Scottsdale.

To be honest, we had no blueprint.

Scottsdale was one of the first cities we ever launched for The Pickup Project. Back then, we were still figuring everything out, how to spread the word, how to get people to show up, how to build something meaningful in a city where nobody knew who we were.

Every new city is a risk.

We don't rely on paid ads. We don't manufacture hype. We stay organic.

We start with conversations, relationships, and a belief that people are craving real community.

Some launches start with big numbers. Scottsdale didn't.

But that's not the metric that matters most.

Today, six months later, there are 13 people consistently showing up on Fridays. Some have become friends. Some have built professional connections. Some simply found a place where they belong.

That's what community looks like before it becomes obvious.

Not viral moments.
Not massive crowds.
Just people showing up, week after week.

What makes Scottsdale special isn't how it started. It's the fact that it kept growing.

To everyone who took a chance on something new, invited a friend, showed up consistently, and helped build this community from the ground up—thank you.

And we're just getting started.

If you know someone in Scottsdale—a friend, athlete, creator, entrepreneur, company, youth group, church, or community leader, tag them below!

They should know this community exists.

NEW JERSEY FOUND ITS CHAMPION! Meet Matthew Volk 🏀

Born in a state known for its beaches, food, and fast-paced energy, Matthew saw a gap in how people connect. Networking had become repetitive, transactional, and disconnected from real human energy.

Today, he’s redefining networking through basketball, community, and competition, turning every run into a space where real relationships are built on and off the court.

New Jersey is next up and this is the fastest-growing basketball-based networking movement built for real energy, real people, and real connection!

“What do I need to bring?” 🏀

Honestly? Just your basketball shoes, water, and a good attitude.

At The Pickup Project, we keep things simple. Every player gets a reversible jersey, teams are organized for you, and everyone is welcome whether it’s been 2 weeks or 20 years since your last pickup run.

The best part? You don’t need to come with a group.

This community is built around showing up, meeting great people, and competing together every Friday morning.

If it’s your first time:
✅ Arrive a little early
✅ Get some shots up
✅ Introduce yourself
✅ Enjoy the run

Because this is more than basketball, it’s connection, consistency, and community.

Moving to a new city comes with a strange mix of excitement and silence.

New places, new opportunities but also unfamiliar faces and the challenge of starting over socially.

A common approach is to try everything at once: different events, apps, and groups. But more often than not, nothing really sticks.

That’s why consistency matters more than exposure.

Not everyone has a place where they feel seen.

That’s why The Pickup Project is bigger than basketball.
Different stories. Different backgrounds. One court. One community.

A place where people know your name, celebrate your wins, and keep showing up for each other. 🏀

The Pickup Project Indianapolis x YPCI

We’re excited to announce a community-first partnership in Indianapolis built around one simple goal: making basketball more accessible for everyone.

Through this collaboration:

• TPP Indy members will receive exclusive discounted access to YPCI
• YPCI members will enjoy 10% off TPP memberships

This isn’t just a partnership, it’s a shared commitment to lowering barriers, expanding access, and creating more consistent opportunities for people to stay active, connected, and engaged through the game.

In a city like Indianapolis, community grows when we make it easier for people to show up.

And that’s exactly what this is about.
More access. More runs. Stronger community.
