Lunging at the ball?

The fix: Step Backs.
1. Step back.
2. Load into the back hip.
3. Let it eat.

Stay back through the stride. No over-striding.

Calvin Grant, Driveline Academy: 90.3 mph, 323 ft off a Smash Factor ball.

Save this for practice. Follow for more.

Afraid to pitch? Start on a wall, not a mound.

When a kid says "I'm not a pitcher," it's almost always fear of failing in front of people.

Every youth player should practice pitching, and pitch in games.

Start with Plyo Darts on a wall, or baseballs thrown at a target on a fence.

The target: head high on the glove side. Shrink the circle or move back as they succeed.

Then move to Levels: 30 feet, 37 feet, then 46 feet.

Track strikes and balls at each distance, and move back as the strikes pile up.

Success first, then challenge. And no 11-year-old gets pigeonholed.

Follow for more youth drills and games, and the science behind them.

Swinging without a load?

The fix: the Hitting Pivot Pick.

Start squared up to the pitcher.
Pivot into the coil.
Control the forward move.
Feel the back of your load, then control the forward move.

Danny Morgan, Driveline Academy: 98.0 mph, 401 ft off a Smash Factor ball.

Save this for practice. Follow for more.

116.9 mph. How? Here's the recipe.

Smash Factor Sessions are named after the ball - we hit Smash Factor balls in this cage every single day.

The ball: a foam ball with seams. Squared up? The ball takes off. Zero hand pain on jammed swings. The environment: the machine moves closer to home plate. Shorter distance, more velo, more pressure on timing and mechanics. The bats: game bats plus training bats. Each one changes the weight, so hitters have to adjust.

Note: exit velos run hot - Smash Factor balls match or exceed a regulation ball.

Save this for practice. Follow for more.

ANOTHER BIG FIELD 💣️ BEFORE HIGH SCHOOL 👀

3rd year Teams athlete Tommy Tate ('30) crushed one at the Top Tier All-State Games this past weekend

Tommy's committed whole-heartedly to the process since he first walked in our doors at 12u, rarely missing practice in 34 months of training. Long-term development happens when you stack day after day of quality reps in a training program built on honest, data-driven feedback trusted by coaches and players at the highest level of the game

7️⃣TH GRADER GOES 330 👀💪

Wesley Kostanich (13U, '31) sending one WAY over the 310 fence during league play this season, surprising everyone on the diamond (including himself!)

Measuring 5'3/135lb, Wesley isn't an extreme size outlier for 13 or a beneficiary of early puberty. Stacking months of age-appropriate strength and bat speed training just leads to outlier results

Hard work give you honesty. How good can you be? Final tryout slots available at link in bio

Our Director of Youth Baseball, Deven Morgan, added up what eight years of driving his son to train - just training, not games - actually came to. The comparisons stopped him cold.

In his words:

"37,000 miles? ... That's approximately one and a half times around the Earth. Or it's 6 to 7 round-trip drives across the United States... And this one is my favorite: it's about 16% of the way to the moon."

That's 1,150 hours in the car over eight years - six months of a 40-hour work week, spent behind the wheel so a kid could keep getting better.

On why they did it, Deven is clear:

"Not because of me, because of him. This is intrinsically motivated... that was something that he desired."

Parents - what's the number you'd be a little scared to add up? The miles? The 5am alarms? The hotel nights? Tell us below.
