Traditional Japanese Aikido practice. An enjoyable, fun atmosphere for those who wish to pursue a self defense art. (Sensei means teacher).

Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced classes are available. Our club was founded by Sensei Ron Christenham - 6th Dan. Sensei Ron Christenham is the Senior US Mainland Instructor for the Aikido Hawaii International Organization (AHI). Both AHI and our club are proud members of Aikikai. Aikikai originated from the hombu dojo of Japan and Aikido's founder O'Sensei Morihei Ueshiba. The founder of AHI w

as Robert Kubo Shihan - 8th Dan, from Hawaii. (Shihan means master teacher). Kubo Shihan trained with the founder of Aikido O'Sensei Morihei Ueshiba, and attained his Black belt from him. Prior to his passing, Kubo Shihan not only traveled to his dojos within AHI, but also around the world. Through his travels he was able to share his extensive knowledge of Aikido and by doing so provided the foundation or roots, if you will, for the ever growing tree we now call AHI. Ron Christenham Sensei has over 40 years of experience in martial arts practice and it is not limited to Aikido alone. The Sarpy Aikido Club is the home dojo for Ron Christenham Sensei and we are honored to have his wealth of knowledge available to us! His sons Rick and Jeff Christenham are also both practitioners of Aikido. Sensei Jeff Christenham is the Chief Instructor of the Sarpy Club and holds a 6th Dan in Aikido. In addition to his experience in Aikido, Sensei Jeff also has an extensive background in other arts. Sensei Jeff frequents the beginner's and intermediate classes, and is the primary instructor of all advanced techniques classes. Sensei Jeff's Senryaku Aikido is best defined as Senryaku tekina or Strategic Aikido. He strives to find a harmonious blend of traditional Aikido with modern day application. Sensei Rick holds a 3rd Dan and has extensive knowledge in Iaido as well. Aside from our founding family, the dojo is host to a large number of black belts with many years of training in both Aikido and other arts...and they are just waiting for the opportunity to share their knowledge with you!! Sarpy Aikido Club is a family oriented dojo with members of all ages, genders and backgrounds who support each other in not only practice and learning in the dojo, but in all aspects of life.

Amazing time at Steel Rivers Aikido seminar! Paris Sensei was a phenomenal host, students were responsive, fellowship was unbelievable. Congratulations Karin, Matt and both Chris' for passing your tests!

The seeds of Sarpy started in 1990 when I asked Dad to teach me Aikido again(I took it on and off for years as a child) just after graduating and moving here to Nebraska. We practiced in the basement of our house and a year or two later we found a tiny place to practice at the LaVista rec center(not the newer large building we're in now)
It was so small that we'd constantly hit the water fountain when we rolled and learned to take very tight Ukemi. Decades later we are still here and thriving! Thank you Dad for everything!!

Earning a yudansha rank is no small achievement. It represents countless hours of training, repetition, sweat, and a deep commitment to the art of Aikido. These men put in that time. They put in that effort. And when their test came, it showed.
But what makes them exceptional isn’t only their technique. It’s who they are on and off the mat. They’re the first to arrive to make sure the mats are ready. They all teach in our beginners and kids classes.......honestly, that alone could qualify them for promotion 😂 and they are a huge part of what keeps Sarpy Aikido moving forward.
I’m incredibly proud of each of you. Your promotions are well earned and well deserved.
