Instant Gallery Reminder - Plus a New Category!

It's not too early to start gathering up (or creating new pieces) items to bring for the always-popular Instant Gallery at the Mid Atlantic Woodturners Association to be held September 25 - 27, 2026 at the Wyndham Resort and Convention Center in Lancaster,PA.

Thanks to a suggestion from our friends at the Baltimore Area Turners club, we are pleased to announce the addition of a new category: Collaborative Work. This will be an item made by two or more turners, each of whom contributes their own skills. Team up with a friend to come up with a piece to enter!

This new category joins our traditional ones including:

Best Pen
Best Bowl
Best Sculpture
Best Segmented
Best Novice
Best Decorated
Best Hollow Form
The above will be selected by attendees' vote through the People's Choice program.

The Best in Show award will be chosen by professional judges. All category winners will be awarded an Amazon gift card.

Bring a child to the Mid Atlantic Woodturners Symposium for Free!

One of the goals of the Mid Atlantic Woodturners Symposium is to encourage the future of woodturning. Bring a child or grandchild to the Symposium and jump start a lifelong interest in woodturning. Introduce a youth to the joys of turning.

Eligible candidates include full-time students up to age 21. All fees associated with their attendance are waived as part of your paid registration. Colwin Way will be at the Mid Atlantic Woodturners Symposium in Lancaster, PA in September

We are pleased to note that internationally known woodturner Colwin Way will be joining us from "across the pond" at the September 25 - 27, 2026 Mid Atlantic Woodturners Symposium being held at the Wyndham Resort Lancaster, Lancaster PA. Colwin is began his woodturning career as a 17-year old, eventually gaining an apprenticeship that he completed after five years. He gained notoriety on the world stage of woodturning and is a frequent contributor to Woodturning magazine. He also serves as a teacher and trainer for Axminster Tools and Machinery in the UK and abroad.

He'll be offering sessions on making a Rocking Pot, Ash Lampshades, and Taming the Skew at the Symposium.
