Moments of peace, comfort and connection were at the heart of last weekβs Motherβs Day Yoga class. π§ββοΈπ
Group X Fitness Instructor Janet guided participants through empowering poses like Warrior I to build confidence and strength, followed by calming, restorative stretches designed to encourage rest and relaxation.
The evening ended with laughter, community and take-home bath bombs β a perfect reminder to continue the self-care long after class ended.
You can join Janet for yoga every Saturday from 9β10 a.m. at the Rec Center in Group X Studio I.

Running and education have always been central to Diana C.βs life. She began college as an engineering major but soon realized her passion was elsewhere.
βI didn't like my major but at that point I was kind of stuck in it and I was just unhappy and being in the gym made me happy,β Diana said. βI was like, βhey, I might be good at this.ββ
Today, Diana works as a personal trainer and Group X fitness instructor at the Lenexa Rec Center, leads our run club (Thursdays at 6 p.m.) and teaches statistics and research methods as a local professor.

After a childhood spent in the pool, Beth F. discovered a new endurance challenge that would shape the next two decades of her life. At 17, she completed her first triathlon β a modest start that sparked a lasting passion.
βI loved going on bike rides with my dad and ran to stay active and fit for swim season,β she said. βMy dad recommended that I try a new sport called "triathlons". βI had my first triathlon at Raintree Lake in Missouri in 2002. I used an old competitive swimsuit, an $80 used bike and my running shoes. I did not have all the fancy bells and whistles others had on the course, but I absolutely loved the triathlon race and community β I was hooked.β

An artist at heart with a passion for movement and nourishment, Mariana Abadieβs path to fitness was anything but conventional. Born in Argentina to Italian ancestors, Mariana moved to the United States in 1989, bringing with her a lifelong curiosity about the body, creativity and self-expression. Today, she channels that curiosity as a personal trainer at the Lenexa Rec Center, where she has been a familiar and trusted presence since the facility opened in 2017.
βFor me, I wanted to help people be able to feel good as they get older,β Mariana said. βI was getting older and I was noticing that, you know, you can be 40, 45, whatever, and still feel like you're in your twenties or better. I'm 57 now and I tell people I can do things that I couldn't do in my twenties.β
