Whether you're boating or taking a swim, make safety your top priority—always wear a life jacket while enjoying the lake.

Registration is open for local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to participate in the 2026 Operation Dry Water campaign.

Follow all buoys and navigation markers while on the water. These aids are placed to help guide boaters, identify hazards, and promote safe navigation for everyone.

A Vessel Safety Check (VSC) is a voluntary inspection designed to confirm that a vessel carries the required safety equipment and meets state and federal boating safety standards.

Operating a boat while impaired by alcohol or drugs is illegal and can have serious consequences. In addition to federal penalties, individual states may enforce their own laws and sanctions for boating under the influence on state waters.

Alcohol impairs judgment, reaction time, and decision-making abilities, making it more difficult for boat operators and passengers to assess situations, process information, and respond safely on the water. Always boat sober!

Before heading out, make sure everyone is wearing a properly fitting U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket that is designed for the day's water activity.
