Behind the scenes at Busy Bees 🐝💛

Owning a play space means there’s always something happening behind the scenes that our guests don’t see.

Today we replaced our bubble tube after the previous one was broken. Unfortunately, since opening, we’ve had to replace quite a few things that have been damaged. Every time we replace something, that’s money we would much rather be using to add NEW experiences, sensory equipment, toys, and activities for our little bees.

We work hard to keep Busy Bees clean, safe, fun and welcoming, so please help us take care of the space and equipment so we can continue growing the hive instead of replacing it. 💛

But today I had the BEST little employee helping me. 😂 My 8-year-old Busy Bee helper came to work and helped Mom get things back together. 🐝🔧

Running a small family business isn’t always glamorous—but these are the moments behind the scenes that keep the hive buzzing.

Some partnerships begin with an email. This one began with someone simply listening.

At the Lexington Chamber Awards, I had the opportunity to share a piece of my story—our family’s journey, the loss of Ezra, and the purpose that has continued to grow through everything we’ve experienced.

Someone from Michelin was in that room listening.

What I didn’t know at the time was that my words stayed with him. He later reached out and told me that he felt my story was something his management team needed to hear.

Next month, just days after the Ezra Legacy Gala, I’ve been invited to speak at Michelin’s Manager Offsite in front of approximately 80 managers and supervisors about love, purpose, supporting our community, Ezra’s legacy, cardiac awareness, and the work we’re doing through Busy Bees Playhouse.

I really don’t want to cancel Ezra’s first birthday gala. 💛
We are officially ONE WEEK away from our RSVP deadline — Wednesday, September 30 — and we need your help filling the room.
October 9 would have been our son Ezra Stone’s first birthday. Instead of allowing that day to pass quietly, we planned the inaugural Ezra Legacy Gala: LOVE • LEGACY • IMPACT as a night to celebrate his life, honor his legacy, and help other families learn information we wish we had known.
We have some incredible people planning to be in the room, including Dr. Ronald Wells, pediatric cardiologist, and the Director of the Pediatric Cardiac Neurodevelopment Program at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital.
The Children’s Cardiomyopathy Foundation is also helping us provide educational information about pediatric cardiomyopathy, and we’ll share a very special tribute video honoring Ezra’s short but incredibly meaningful life.
And this isn't only for healthcare professionals, business owners, or invited guests.
