This year we had 20+ students audition for the Southwest Kansas Music Educators Association (SWKMEA) Middle School Honor Band. Eleven students won seats and two students won alternate spots. This year's auditions were exceptionally competitive. We are proud of all the hard work all of our Warrior Band students put in and these students put in considerably extra to win these places on the roster. Congratulations, Warriors!

Also, if you are into data, our auditions were up 50% from last year, rostered musicians were up 62% from last year, and the Eisenhower Warrior Band won more seats than any other band in the SWKMEA!

Congratulations to That Liberal Band: LHS on yet another Superior rating in marching performance at the Central States Marching Festival at Kansas State University! ❤️

We have a lot of former Warriors performing in “That” Liberal Band, and we’re proud to see our former Eisenhower students continuing to make great music at the high school level.

A quick explanation for those who may not be familiar with music festivals: In the performing arts, a “festival” means something different than the word normally suggests. In this case, it is essentially an independent performance assessment. The band performs for a panel of judges, and the judges evaluate the performance according to specific musical and visual criteria.

So, you can think of “Superior” as receiving an A on the assessment; it means the performance met the highest level of the festival’s rating system. It’s a pretty significant accomplishment!

Congratulations, TLB! We’re proud of our Warriors and everyone who is part of the band! 💚

Parents: Both Eisenhower and Seymour Rogers are canceling our parade appearances today. Rain is bad for instruments. Bus students will be riding the bus home. Mr. Smiddy will wait at Eisenhower for those who need to be picked up from the school.

This afternoon, the Warrior Band had the opportunity to take a call from Kylee Hammel, a Kinesiology major and member of Kansas State University’s Marching Band, The Pride of Wildcatland. She and the band talked about heat illness and injuries. They heard about the processes the K-State Marching Band uses to keep its band safe and the reactions the band had to recent heat-related issues at K-State and the University of Iowa. Thank you, Kylee, for helping our young Warriors learn how to stay safe. FEETDIPPS!
