We want to give a huge shoutout to Sandhills for taking a leadership role in protecting what matters most — our athletes and their current 🙌

Early tryouts have become a growing distraction in youth sports, pulling focus away from the season our girls are still fighting through. Team chemistry, confidence, and development all suffer when attention shifts too early to “next year.”

Last year, our team made the decision to wait until our season was finished before hosting any tryouts — and it was absolutely the right call for our athletes. We’re proud to continue that commitment again this year.

Sandhills’ decision to delay tryouts until after the season ends is a step in the right direction, and we’re proud to stand with them.

As part of the Prodigy organization, our turning 11U team will once again wait until our current season is fully completed before hosting or participating in any tryouts.

Our girls deserve to finish what they started — together, focused, and strong.💪

Let’s keep the spotlight on the athletes, the work they’re putting in right now, and the team they’re committed to today.

💙🖤🤍 Together, we can do better for our youth athletes. 💙🖤🤍

A message from SGYC leadership regarding summer tryouts:

Struggled a bit to find the words for this post...so I'll start with the easy part. These girls amaze me 🥹.

As I watched them yesterday, I was reminded of the Little Apple Shootout, a 1-day 8U tournament in Manahattan, just a couple years ago. In the Championship game, no less than 75% of our dugout was in tears 😭 before the end of the second inning. The other team scored multiple runs against us to jump out to an early lead and it sent them spiraling. They hadn't yet developed the tools and skills needed to be truly gritty and keep battling. We experienced a loss after 33 straight wins...nearly 12 months without a loss - it WRECKED them. To this day, that game, is all one of my all-time favorites.

Yesterday in the semi-finals, our opponent took a 4-run lead in the top of the 2nd. We huddled up before grabbing our bats and reminded ourselves that the only pitch that matters is the next one. They went out and played Prodigy softball and batted through the line-up, 15 plate appearances, batted for the entire 35+ minutes remaining on the timer, and scoring 11 runs!

In the Championship game they blocked out all the distractions (and there were a LOT), played for each other, and battled through extra innings to finish the weekend on top!🏆🥇 Every single one of them contributed. They put the team before themselves by celebrating sac bunts and RBI's, cheering loud to win the dugout battle, and by playing whatever position the team needed in the moment.

It helped teach them that they have to come ready to play each and every game. It provided a foundation from which we have developed mental toughness, the ability to move on, to focus on the next pitch, and to lift up our teammates, especially if we are down. And WOW, this team showed their grit in a big way last night!

What a weekend for these girls. ❤️🥎

After going 1-3-1 Friday and Saturday, they had every reason to hang their heads — but instead, they showed exactly what this team is made of.

This morning they came out with grit, heart, and determination, going 3-0 in three straight games to bring home the Championship on Mother’s Day weekend! 🏆

But the best part wasn’t the trophy.

It was the way they played for EACH OTHER.

The way they lifted each other up, stayed positive, battled through adversity, and played every inning for their teammate Traegan, who was cheering them on from home while awaiting a medical procedure.

This team is bigger than softball. So proud of these girls and the love they have for one another. ❤️

Bright and early on Mother’s Day, the Prodigy Fastpitch girls are back at the fields doing what they love! ☀️

Today, we want to give a huge THANK YOU to all of our softball moms for the countless early mornings, late nights, road trips, packed coolers, washed uniforms, pep talks, and unconditional love you give every single day. Your unwavering support behind the scenes is what helps these girls chase their dreams and grow both on and off the field. 💕

We are so grateful for everything you do for this team and these athletes. Wishing all of our amazing moms a very Happy Mother’s Day! 💐🥎

🔥 Weekend Ready 🔥
Our girls are stepping up in a big way at the Odd Age Spring Swing this weekend—competing in the 11U division for the very first time.
They’ve put in the work. They’re confident. And most importantly, they’re ready to compete.
No matter the outcome, we’re incredibly proud of this group for embracing the challenge and continuing to grow together. This is what it’s all about. 💙
Let’s go, Prodigy!
