After the long camp season, many of our summer staff were able to stay around last Friday night for a celebration and recognition of their work. We are so grateful for the caring presence and fun-loving guidance these young (and young at heart) people provided for 10 weeks so that campers, and they themselves, could go home each day "happy, dirty, and tired."
We are also especially grateful to Camp Taco for providing the yummy taco/fajitas bar for dinner! Thank you for recognizing the important work of these kind of "counselors!" :-)

We want to wish all our Lake Nixon community--students (including college and graduate students), teachers, and administrators--a fantastic new school year! Whether your school started last week, today, tomorrow, or some other time in the near future, may this be a wonderful year of learning and growing in new and renewed relationships.
As you return, here are a few of our favorite moments from Friday's final day of the summer, including our star-studded talent show!
Stay in touch, come visit anytime, and make plans to join us October 25th for Fall Fest!

Whew! Yesterday was the final day of camp for the summer 🥲 and last night we celebrated and recognized our wonderful summer staff. More photos coming soon, but we've got some catching up to do . . . . .
Thursday was our final theme-dress day of the year ("Cowabunga"), along with plenty of typical camp fun!
As always, we are grateful to the many individual donors and this summer's corporate/organizational camp sponsors who help make Lake Nixon financially accessible to more families. THANK YOU!!

We were glad to welcome The Summit Church: Little Rock for another year!
With a new school year nearing, The Summit Church capped off its summer on Sunday with an evening of baptisms and barbecue, as well as a fiercely contested pie-making competition.

The last Wednesday of this camp season! Which one of these scenes do you most see yourself in?

If you do a simple online search, you'll read that the made-up exclamation, "Cowabunga!" is "a playful slang interjection used to express sudden excitement, joy, or exhilaration. People shout it when doing something thrilling, like catching a big wave or celebrating a win."
The theme for our final week of camp is "Cowabunga!" -- and maybe we found our cover photo for this theme yesterday!

"'Twas the last week of camp, and all around the lake . . . . .
. . . . do you think we still have the mental energy to rhyme an entire post, for goodness' sake?" 😀
The conversations may have turned to how few days are left and who is and isn't excited about the school year ahead, but everyone brought the camp energy on a beautiful day yesterday!

Yesterday was a bittersweet final day of Week 9, since it was the last day of the summer for a large number of campers and a few staff members. We did our best to fill the day with more chances to make memories, starting off with some spirited games of "monster ball" at the morning assembly. "I am not the first; I won't be the last . . . . "

Yesterday was "Back to the Future" theme-dress day, and campers and staff from a variety of eras made an appearance. However, the fun and friendship of summer days at Lake Nixon are, simply, timeless.
